The invention specifically relates to what may be termed a board wherein there are`moving elements permitting the applicant of the test toindicate' his various answers, and wherein there are a number of different arbitrarily fixed numerals or other characteristics concealed from view of the applicant so that after the test has out the entire height ofthe board Ill.'
been completed, the summation of his indications may be readih7 determined and the proper weight indicated. f v
A furtherprimary object of the invention is to provide a structure which is exceedingly simple in its makeyfup, and which may provide means for sealing the various weights given to certainy answers, the correct or incorrect answersy and the like, all in a manner which will be readily available to the person who is summing up the scores, simply by breaking a seal or the like.
These and many other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to those versed in the art in the following description of the invention as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which,
Fig. 1 is a top plan view of the device embodying the invention;

Fig. 5, a transverse section on the line 5--5 in Fig. 4; y Fig.l 6, a detail in slightly enlarged scale in section on the line --B and j :MFig '1,A a detail in section on the line 1 .'1 in Referring to the drawings-in which like characters of reference indicatelike partsthroughout the several-^views, and particularly to the illustration of the invention as shown in Figs. 1.-'3, thereisprovided `a board I Il made out of anyA suitable v'material such' asV fiber board, or scmemore durable v material suchl asl 1a plastic. The board I0 is'provided with al plurality of transversely extending Yand parallel slots I I) sepaofthe invention ,in
extreme end. f n Alibiv` thesefwordsand numerals are spaced In each of vthese slots II there is placed a slide I3 to be less in length than the length of the slot I I so that the slide I3 may be reciprocated freely along the slot. Over 'the board Ill' and over the various slides I3, there is positioned a cover plate I4. vThis cover plate I5* is provided with a plu--Y rality lof vertically Aaligned windows herein shown as a major window 'I5 on the left-hand side and then a' plurality of narrow windows spaced to the right therefrom, such windows be-A ing designated bythe 'respective numerals I6, I1, I8, I9, 20, 2'I, and 22. The cover I4 ts over the board In and over the adjacent ribs I2 in suchmanner that the slide I3 may be freely reciprocated between the cover I4 and the board I0. v Y.
Each of the slidesIS is preferably provided with a button 23 havinga central hole 24 therein to receive any pointed objects such as the point of a lead pencil. Thisip'rovides ready means vfor reciprocating theslide I3 along their individual slots II.`
Depending upon the nature of the test to be conducted, and the desired information to be obtained, and the valuations to be placed upon the various answers given, each of these slides I3 is provided with the .necessary indicia to give those valuations for the proper positioning of.

The column I 5 as defined by the open window :erating the slides. Y,
Referring to that form shown in Fig. 1, the
through the cover I4 remains open at all times and visible to the operator. Likewise Athe window I6 defining the column next to the right, remains open and visible to the operator at all times. The other columns I1-22 inclusive are covered in any suitable manner such as by the rigid apron 25, removably secured to the board I0 and its cover I4 in any suitable manner. In the present instance, this vapron 25 is hingedtothe board III by means of a length of flexible paper 26'.' Thus the apron 25 may be left down to cover the win-. dows I1-22 inclusive as indicated bythe portion shown in Fig. 1.

pearing in the various columns I 1422 inclusive after the slides have been manipulated' '.to'the'" desired answers as shown in the column appearing throughf'the window I6.; The apron 25 is held in this closed position by means of a removable ortearable seal 21.-If the seal 21 is is meant that, as in Fig. 1, the slides I3 will be positioned to have selectivelypresented in window I6, a yes, or m0, or a blank such as the question mark. As applied to Fig. 4, that initial position will expose inwindow 32, a zero space on each slide when all the slides are shifted to the extreme right, or a blank space when shifted to the extreme left. n
f- Then the' testee will let alone or shift the slides I3 to cause his desired answer to appear inthe respective windows I6 or 32.
It isA to be noted that the buttons 23 may be so located that they themselves do not constitute the end of travel limit of the slides since the slide endsV may strike the ends of their respective grooves for that purpose. Furthermore the hole 24 of the button 23 in each instance may extend into the slide I3 and the button 23 be reduced in, height or even eliminated though it is preferable that the buttons be used for convenience in opdouble columns of figures on the slides I3 appearing in windows I1-22, are employed to de- Anote, plus and minus quantities. For example, the left-hand columnin any one of those windows is reserved to display plus quantities, while the right-hand column in they same window reserved to denote minus quantities. This is'so arranged that the two kinds of quantities are immediately available for separate addition. If the answer to question number` two, Fig. 1, is "no, the applicant will shift slide number 2 to havethe word no appear in the window IIi accordingly. The answers are given to the questionsY accordingly throughout the entire series. If the applicant is in doubt and doesnot F want to answer either ,yes or no then he can shift the slides to bring question marks intothe window I6, that being the positionwiththe but? tons "23 shifted to' the extreme the window I5.
left-hand sidev of or characters appearing in these columns I1-22, are arbitrarily assigned in accordance with the evaluations to'be given in eachinstance.
After the applicant has completed the answering of the'questions, the board is taken by the supervisor of the test, and the seal 21 is broken to have the apron 25 folded back, so that access may be had to the columns I1- 22 and the matter appearing therein can be added up in the` case of numerals to obtain the desired grade or score as maybe wanted from any one of the columns or all of those columns.,
Referring now to that form of the invention shown in Figs.' 4-7, this structure follows the general layout of the structure defined in reference to Figs. 1-3 inclusive. The structure shown in Figs. 4-7 is preferably designed to be used in answering multiple choice questions. In this instance. the column 28 defined by the ver-g tical opening or window 28 `is provided to give access to the various buttons 23 projecting up-I wardly therein from the slides I3 under the cover I4. The various items from which the applicant selects his answers are numbered and the corresponding numbers appear along the leftjhand marginal edge portion of the window 29, herein shown as carrying the numbers 1 45 inclusive to provide for forty-five different items. The board is covered over by the apron 30 and sealed by the seal 3l so that only the vertical window 32 is exposed to theright of the apron 3Q. The applicant shifts the various slides I3 to causeV the numbers to appear in the column or window 32 in accordance with those items which he believes are correct. Then in the windows 33, 34, and 35 normally covered overb-y the apron 3B, will be registered the various characters appearing on the individual slides so as to indicate whether or not the applicants selection is right or wrong, or whether he has omitted answering all together. For example, column 33 is that column wherein the items have been correctly answered and are so indicated. Column 34. provides-for the appearance therein of the numerals indicating the wrong answer or selection,v and column v-35 provides the indication wherein `thelapplicant has omittedy answering all together. f-
Thus it is to be seen that there is somejflexi-l the individual slides.
1 Therefore, it is tobe seen-that I have provided an exceedingly simple, yet very practical device kfor `the purpose indicated, and-114:10 not desire to be limited -to those precise'iorms lbeyond the lime itations which may lbe imposed by lthevfollowing claims.
