1 Claim. 1
This invention relates to improvements in cigarette humidifiers. It is an object of the invention to provide a cigarette humidifier wherein a relatively large number of cigarettes may be so arranged that each cigarette is held separate from the rest and is readily accessible.
Another object of the invention is to provide a cigarette humidifier so constructed and arranged that the water may be readily replenished from time to time through a removable spout adapted to be inserted through one of the cylindrical cigarette holders thereby obviating the necessity for removing the pan from the device except at very infrequent intervals when it is deemed advisable to clean it.
A further object of the invention is to provide a cigarette humidifier which presents a decorative appearance, and which is relatively cheap and simple to manufacture.
Having thus briefly stated some of the objects and advantages of the invention I will now described it in detail with the aid of the accompanying drawing, in which;
Figure 1 illustrates a plan view of the invention,
Figure 2 is a partial inverted plan, and
Figure 3 is a section on the line 3-3 of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawing, I designates an annular base provided with suitably arranged supporting means, such as downwardly projecting legs 2. Secured within the base I is a hollow conical member 3 having a plurality of tubular cigarette holders 4 mounted thereon in sets so that the upper extremities of all the holders in each set are in substantially the same horizontal plane. Each holder 4 is adapted to receive and support the lower extremity of a cigarette A as indicated in Figure 3. Secured to the holders 4 in each adjacent pair of sets 5, and positioned between the latter, are annular bands 6 which maintain the separate holders in their proper relation to one another. Formed through the conical member 3 are a plurality of small apertures I which open into the underside of each tubular holder 4, except the central holder 4a which is mounted upon the top of the conical support 3; formed through the latter centrally beneath the holder la is a single larger aperture Ia which is, however, smaller than the bore of the holder 4a Secured as by screws 8 to the underside of the base I is a plate 9 preferably provided with means, such as an integral tongue So for gripping it when it is desired to secure the said plate in position. Mounted upon the plate 9, and if desired secured thereupon, is a water pan I having a removable conical cover II through which apertures I2 are formed. The lowest apertures l2 are positioned somewhat lower than the apertunes 1 opening into the bottom set of holders 4.
so that moisture passes substantially uniformly upward from the pan Iii, and a sponge l4 therein, through each holder 4.
So that the water pan l9 may be filled and the sponge I4 moistened without removing the former from within the base I I provide a removable funnel I5 having a conical upper end I6 for filling, a central portion I! of uniform diameter to pass freely through the central tubular holder la, and a lower tubular extremity I8 oflreduced diameter to extend through the apertures Ia and I2 beneath it.
While in the foregoing the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described and shown, it is understood that alterations and modifications may be made thereto provided the said alterations and modifications fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is:
A humidifier including a base, a hollow memher the upper portion of which is conical both inside and out resting upon said base, tubular cigarette holders mounted in and projecting vertieally upward from the conical portion of the member into each of which a cigarette is adapted to fit so that the lower edge of each cigarette makes substantially a point contact with the outer conical face of the member and is supported thereby whereby substantially the entire underside of the cigarette is spaced above said member, a water pan supported on the base within the hollow member, the conical portion of the member having substantially vertical apertures therethrough opening into the undersides of the tubular supports for the upward flow of moist air therethrough and a conical removable cover mounted on the water pan having its conical face parallel with and spaced beneath the conical underside of the said hollow member, said cover having openings formed therethrough for the passage of moist air upward through the vertical apertures, and said cover being adapted to exclude tobacco dropping from the cigarettes to the water pan.
