My invention relates to and has for a purpose the provision of a simple, inexpensive, practical and durable device designed for the easy carrying by one when walking, of articles of various sizes and shapes, and it is particularly designed for use by school children for carrying books, tablets, and the like to and from school.

My invention embodies a plurality of straps secured one to the other to form a plurality of closed loops arranged to form a sling for receiving the articles to be carried, and means for constricting the sling into firm clamping relation to the articles therein, and which means is operable to retain the sling in constricted form under the weight of the articles when the device is suspended from the hand, arm, or shoulder of the carrier, thus affording an easy convenient and safe means of carrying a plurality of articles and particularly books.

I will describe only three forms of article carrying devices, each embodying my invention, and will then point out the novel features thereof in claims.

Referring first to Figs. 1 to 4, my invention in this embodiment is shown as comprising at least two straps S and Si secured at their ends it and [5a, respectively, by means of a bolt [6 or other suitable fastening member (see Fig. 4) such bolt also serving to secure the ends of a third strap S2 to form a closed loop which, while shown of a size to provide a handle by which the device can be suspended from the person while walking,

Straps S and Si, secured to each other as. described, form two closed loops, and by means of stitching l6 (see Fig. 3), the bottom portions H and Ila of the straps are secured in right angular intersecting relation to each other, so that the loops, in. turn, are secured in corresponding relation, and thus form a sling in which the articles to be carried are received.

6. An article carrying device, including: a pair of straps secured to each other to form a pair of intersecting and closed loops, one strap being of greater length than the other to form a larger loop than the other so that the two loops when suspended form a sling for the reception of articles of rectangular form; a buckle slidable on said straps for constricting the sling into clamping relation to articles therein; and studs on said straps engageable with said buckle for confining the latter in sling constricting position, the studs on one strap being spaced along the length thereof in alternate relation to the studs on the other strap.

'7. An article carrying device as embodied in claim 6 wherein a third strap is secured to the first two straps to provide a loop from which the device may be suspended.

8. An article carrying device, including: a pair of straps secured one to the other to provide a pair of intersecting loops; hook members secured to said straps at intervals along the length thereof; and a buckle slidable on said straps to constrict said loops and to be engaged by said members for holding the loops in constricted form.

9. An article carrying device as embodied in claim 8 wherein said buckle has an opening therethrough through which said straps and members are moveable, and flanges bounding said opening to be engaged by said members for securing the buckle against movement upwardly on the straps.

10. An article carrying device, including: a

plurality of straps secured to each other to form a plurality of loops in intersecting relation to form a sling for the reception of articles to be carried; another strap secured to the first mentioned straps by which said loops can be carried in suspended position; means moveable downwardly on the loop straps for constricting the loops into clamping relation to the article: therein; and means on the loop straps for locking the first means against upward movement thereon when the device is suspended from said other loop.

11. An article carrying device, including: a pair of straps secured to each other to form a pair of loops one intersecting the other; and means on said straps for constricting the loops into clamping relation to articles to be carried, said means comprising a buckle slidable downwardly on said straps and having pointed projections thereon, and holes in said straps in which said projections are received to secure the buckle against movement upwardly on the straps when the straps are held in suspended position.
