1 Claim. 1
The present invention relates to automatic screen door hooks and it consists in the combinations, constructions and arrangements of parts herein described and claimed.
It is an object of the invention to provide an automatic latch for screen doors or the like.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a simple, compact, inexpensive and efficient closure latch.
Another object of the invention is the provision, in a latch, of a simple and effective means for unlatching the same.
Other and further objects of the invention will become apparent from a reading of the follow- 2 25 formed longitudinally therein. The bolts 22 are adapted to engage in the grooves 25. Integrally formed with the dog 24 is an operating button 26.
In operation, it will be apparent that when the door is closed either by hand operation or by the operation of a sprin in the conventional manner, that the hook 16, due to its angular inner face 21, will ride over the detent l8 and fall into position thereover in such manner that the detent [8 will lie within the notch l1, thereby effectively latching the door. When it is desired to unlatch the door, the button 26 is pressed in- Wardly of the door l3 thereby causing the dog 24 nc p a i n ken in conjun ion with h to move against the cammed portion 2| of the drawings, in which: hook I6 and thereby causing the hook l6 to be Figure 1 is an elevational view of an embodiraised at its inner end thereby becoming disenment of the invention, gaged from the detent I8 whereupon the door Figure 2 is a plan view, partly in section, taken may be opened in the conventional manner. along line of gure 1 in the direction of the While but one form of the invention has been arrows, shown and described herein, it will be readily ap- Figure 3 is an elevational sectional view taken parent to those skilled in the art that many along line 3--3 of Figure 2, and minor modifications may be made without de- Figure 4 is an exploded perspective view illusparting from the spirit of the invention or the trating the method of assembly of the invention. scope of the appended claim.
