The invention relates to sprayheads for washiountains.

One object of the invention is to provide a new and improved arrangement for mounting a sprayhead on a washbasin.

A further object of the invention is to provide a two-part sprayhead in which one of the parts is clamped in water-tight relation with the supply pipe by an apertured nut and in which the other part of said sprayhead is clamped to the rst part by a screw engaging said nut.

The invention further consists in the several features hereinafter set forth and more particularly dened by claims at the conclusion hereof.

head mounted on the back portion I of said basin and provided with peripheral sprayoriiices hereinafter described to distribute water sprays over substantially the entire area of the bowl of said basin.

The spray nozzle is formed of two cup-shaped parts 8 and 9 whose dished portions form a cavity I0. The lower base member 3 of the nozzle is a cylindrical cup-shaped member having a central aperture II and a recessed peripheral edge I2 providing a centering surface and a shoulder I3. For a portion of its circumference the top edge of said cup is provided with a series of radially disposed grooves I4 which when the inverted cup or cap 9 is clamped in position, form spray orifices to distribute the water over the bowl of the basin 5.

For mounting the nozzle above described on the basin 5 and supplying water thereto, a hollow cylindrical supporting sleeve I5 is interposed between the basin 5 and the back portion 1 of the basin, and the recessed edge I2 of the member 8 iits within the top of said sleeve with its shoulder I3 abutting the top of said sleeve, and a water supply pipey i6 is used as a tie bolt to clamp these parts together in assembled relation with said basin. For this purpose the pipe I6 is threaded and extends up through an opening il in the back l of the basin to which it is clamped by washers i9 and nuts I9 disposed on opposite sides of and operatively engaging said basin, and

1 Claim. (Cl. 4--145) a cap nut 20 and washer 2| are mounted on the upper end of said pipe I6 and clampingly engage the apertured bottom of the member 8. Thus the pipe I6 is rmly anchored to the basin and in turn through the sleeve I5 and the nut 20 rmly clamps the lower base member 8 of the nozzle to the'basin, the nut 20 having one or more openings 22 therein to conduct the water from the pipe I6 into the cavity I0.

The cap 9 is provided with a central opening 23 through which a screw 24 having threaded engagement with the upper portion of the nut 20 passes whereby said cap 9 is clamped to the member B and also to the supply pipe `I6 through said screw.

With the above construction the spray nozzle is supported above the basin in proper spaced relation relative to the bowl, so that its sprays will fall gently into the bowl when the nozzle is in operation and there is very little machine work required to iit the above named parts together.

We desire it to be understood that this invention is not to be limited to any particular form or arrangement of parts except in so far as such limitations are included in the claim.

What we claim as our invention is:

vIn a sprayhead structure for washiountains havinga supply pipe anchored to a wall of the washbasin and having a threaded portion projecting above the same, the combination of a pair of cup-shaped members having their peripheral edges in abutting relation and forming a cavity provided with spray outlets at their peripheral edges, said pipe extending through a central opening' in one of said members, a hollow supporting sleeve for said members, means for centering one of said members relative to the top of said sleeve, an apertured cap nut on said supply pipe for clamping said centered. member against the top of said sleeve and to said supply pipe, and means for clamping the other of said members in assembled relation and to said nut.
