The present invention rel'atesto acarrier and container for hypodermic syringesiand'it consists in the combinations, constructions and'.arrangements, of parts .herein described and" claimed.
Generally there isgprovided acarrier and. con- 7 tainer for hypodermic'syringes which may be placed as a unitary device ina sterilizer and which is adapted to contain within itself a1plurality of barrels. plungers and'needles. Openings are provided v for the vertical reception of the. barrels, plungers andneedles. and'are arranged of novel means for mounting and"transporting the various parts of. hypodermic syringes.
Another object of the inventionis the provision, in a device ofthe character set'forth; of
a novel arrangement of syringe barrel receiving openings, syringe plunger receiver openings and syringe needle receiving. openings.
A further object ofthe invention is theprovision, in a device ofthe character set forth, of
.novel means whereby a complete syringe maybe assembled withoutxconta'mination by the users" hands.
A still further object of theinvention isthe provision,. inaldevice. of the character set 'forth, of a novel arrangement of parts whereby the vertical positionxof plungers andibarrels placed within the device is assured.

Within the. container. I0 there. is removably positioned atable likelstructure having a top, l8 having one corner cut away, as indicated at"l9, and provided at each of its corners .withfa'vertically extending leg member. 20.
Suspended from. thetop [8 by 'meansof an arm 2| and weldedto the legs 20' at one endof the table like structure is an aligning plate. 22. It will be seen that the cutaway portion l9.in the cover [8 essentially divides the.top l8 into a smaller squaredportion 23 and a larger squared portion 24. and that the aligning, plate. 22 lies only beneath the-larger portion'24 of the cover I 8.
The smaller squared portion 23.ofthe;cover I8 is provided with a plurality'of'rows of.needle holding apertures "25 having downwardly flared edges 26 in which...may. be placedv hypodermic needles 21. The larger portion 24 ofthe cover is, providedwith rows of barrel-receiving openings' 28 between eachrow of which isa row of plunger receiving openings 29. The aligning pl'ate.22 islikewiseprovided with rowsof barrel receiving ,openings, which immediately underlie the openings 28. and is-also providedwith plunger, receiving openings 3| which underlie immediately, the openings 29.
The. openings. 28 and'39 are adapted. to. re-
ceive vertically therethrough-barrels .32 .ofhypodermic syringes :and. the. openings 29and3l are adaptedto receive.vertically;therethrough plungers .33 .of hypodermic syringes.
In operatiomit will beapparent that-thedevice maylfirstbelloaded by placing-hypodermic needle barrels: 32..in..the .openings..28 ;and. 30 :and plungers 33 .inthe: rows; of- .openingsv29 andvtheiraligned Hy-podermic needles. 21 will.- be placed. in .the openings. (2 5- whereupon the. space provided; by'theeut awayportioncl 9 may beloadedwith: small .-cotton.-halls.and-. a glassej arr-and; the
entire device placed within a sterilizer with the cover in opened condition after which the entire device is sterilized with dry steam for the proper period (usually fifteen minutes) whereupon it may be removed from the sterilizer and moved from placeto place by a nurse or doctor by means of the handle l6.
When it is desired to use a syringe, a cloth cover 34, which has likewise been placed over the barrels, plungers and needles prior to placing the device in the sterilizer, may be lifted in such manner as to uncover only one of the barrels 32 and one of the plungers 33 whereupon the operator may grasp the upper end of the plunger 33 thus uncovered and place the same within the barrel 32 whereupon, still utilizing the upper end of the plunger 33, the barrel may be lifted away from the openings 28 and 30, it being understood that the plunger 33 will frictionally hold the barrel 32. The thus assembled barrel and plunger may then be moved to a point immediately over one of the needles 2'! which likewise may be uncovered by lifting only a portion of the cloth 34 and the needle may then be assembled upon the lower end of the barrel 32 by frictional contact therewith. Thus it will be seen that the needle and the barrel will remain absolutely sterile while being made ready for use.
Also it will be seen that the needles 21 when being positioned originally in the holes 25 will not come into contact with any foreign matter or device whatever. importantly it is pointed out thatby placing the barrel receiving openings in rows adjacent rows of plunger receiving openings, that the operation of the device is greatly facilitated. After use the syringe may be disassembled and then by remov-,
ing the needle 2'! and placing the same in the glass jar provided therefor and the plunger and I barrel may be left in assembled condition and placed within one of the openings 28, the leaving .of the plunger 33 within the barrel indicating that that particular pair of elements has been used.
' While but one form'of the invention has been shown and described herein, it will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art that many minor modifications may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention orthe scope of the appended claims.
What is claimed is: 1. A device of the character described comprising a container, a cover hinged to said container,
a latch for the cover, a handle affixed to the cover,
and a table like structure removably mounted in the container and comprising a top having rows of syringe barrel-receiving openings, rows of syringe plunger-receiving openings, and a plurality of needle-receiving openings formed therein,
legs for supporting the top, and an aligning plate "positioned in spaced parallel relation to the top and underlying that portion thereof having the barrel and plunger-receiving openings therein and provided with like openings in vertical registry with those in the top. l
2. A device of the character described comprising a container, a cover hinged to said container, a latch for the cover, a handle affixed to the cover,
and a'table-like structure removably mounted in the container comprising a tophaving rows of v syringe barrel-receiving openings, rows of syringe Again and most 7 and plunger-receiving openings therein and provided with like openings in vertical registry with those in the top, said top having one corner cut away to provide a space within the container for the reception of devices allied to the use of syringes.

A device of the character described comprising a container, a cover hinged to said container, a latch for the cover, a handle afiixed to the cover, and a table-like structure removably mounted in the container and comprising a top having rows of syringe bar 'el receiving openings, rows of syringe plunger-receiving openings, and a plurality of needle-receiving openings formed therein, legs for supporting the top, and an aligning plate positionedin spaced parallel relation to the top and underlying that portion thereof having the barrel and plunger-receiving openings therein and provided with like openings in vertical registry with those in the top, and a cloth cover for covering barrels, plungers and needles positioned in their respective openings.

A device of the character described comprising a container, a cover hinged to said container, a latch for the cover, a handle affixed to the cover, a table-like structure removably mounted in the container and comprising a top having rows of syringe barrel-receiving openings, rows of syringe plunger-receiving openings, and a plurality of needle-receiving openings formed therein, legs for supporting the top, and an aligning plate p0- sitioned in spaced parallel relation to the top and underlying that portion thereof having the barrel and plunger-receiving openings therein and provided with like openings in vertical registry with those in the top, and a cloth cover for covering .barrels, plungers and needles positioned in their respective openings,'said top having one corner cut away to provide a space within the container for the reception of devices allied to the use of syringes.

A device of the character described comprising a container, a cover hinged to said container, a latch for the cover, a handle affixed to the cover, and a table-like structure removably mounted in the container and comprising a top having rows of syringe barrel-receiving openings, rows of syringe plunger-receiving openings, and a plurality of needle-receiving openings formed therein, legs for supporting the top, and an aligning plate positioned in spaced parallel relation to the top and underlying that portion thereof having the barrel and plunger-receiving openings therein and pro- REFERENCES CITED The following references are of record in the file of this patent:
