This invention relates to improvements in handbags such as are popularly used for the holding of objects.

It is an object of my invention to provide a handbag with novel means for suspending a supplemental purse or container or other object therein in easily accessible fashion, without interfering with the continuous cross sectional outline of the frame members essential to the neat and complete bagging of the frame.

An embodiment of a structure employing my invention is shown in the accompanying drawings and described in detail in the ensuing specification. This embodiment is merely by way of example; my invention is not limited thereto but includes al1 other forms which would come within the scope of the appended claim. In the drawings,

The drawings illustrate the practical application of my invention to a bag frame consisting of the frame sections l0 and II which are pivoted together as at I2 at the ends of the leg members I6, I6 of said frame sections, each frame member being generally channeled in cross section (Fig. 3) and having inner and outer Walls I4 and I3 defining an opening I5 substantially co-extensive with the frame vsections and continuing to the free end points I 8 of outer walls I4 immediately :adjacent the pivot points I2. The bag material (not shown) is clamped marginally in the frame sections by passing the said material into said frame sections through the opening I5 and l bending the wall I4' toward the wall I3, or by similar expedients well known to those skilled inv this art. y

Pursuant to my invention, the object Il (such 2 as an inner purse) is suspended from the frame sections I D and II at the point immediately adjacent the pivot I2 to permit of the full and unvimpaired opening and closing of the frame sections in the usual fashion, and the full utilization of the inner wall I4 throughout its lengthto the point IS-to clamp the bag material within the frame sections, in a manner essential to Iprovide for the neat bagging of the material. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the plate I9 is out from the inner wall I4 at a point spaced from the end point I8 of said inner wall I4, plate I9 being initially bent outwardly oi' the plane of the wall I4 (Fig. 3) defining therewith a guide whereby the straps 2D or other terminal securing means for the object Il may be simply positioned under the plate I9 and over the wall I4, and then the plate I9 may be bent to a position substantially in the plane of the inner wall I4 (see Figs. 2 and 4) to eiiectively hold the strap 20 on wall I 4. The bag frame thus completed with the object I l suspended therefrom may subsequently be bagged as desired. It will be noted by the use of my in- .then complete the bag by the use of material to be secured within the frame sections of the desired styleand quality. It will be apparent that by the use of the invention, it is possible to utilize the full length of the inner wall I4 up to and including the end point I8 thereof adjacent the pivot, including also the plate I9, holding the bag material up to and including the point I8 firmly within the frame sections. Thus, there is presented fa neat and ilnished appearance at the ends of the b-ag, to the same extent as would be the case wherein' the conventional uninterrupted wall I4 were used. y 'In the form shown in Figs. 6 and 7, a plate 2| is welded or otherwise secured at one end 22 to vthe inner wall I4, the other, free end 23 of said plate being adapted to be doubled over and clinched upon the secured end 22 with the straps 2U of the object I1 thus clinched within the plate 2| (see Fig. 7).

Having thus described my invention, what I claimy as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
