A further spacing ring 43 similar to the ring 39 may carry an additional ring 44, provided with a further rotatable blade 45 carried by a collar 46.

Obviously, the arrangement is such that any of the blades or their associated screens and spacer rings may be omitted if desired, and screens of varying meshes may be readily substituted for any or all of the previously described screens.

As best shown in Figure 5, means are provided for securing the blades against longitudinal displacement on the shaft 3d, and take the form of a ball 56 seated in a recess in each of collars 38, ll, and AS, the ball being spring pressed, as by means of a spring 5: into engagement with a recess or detent 52 in the side of the shaft 30',

'From the foregoing, it will now be seen that there is herein provided an improved powerdriven flour sifter, readily adapted to wide flexibility of arrangement, which accomplishes all the objects of this invention, and others, including many advantages of great practical utility and commercial importance.

As many embodiments may be made of this inventive concept, and as many modifications may be made in the embodiment hereinbefore shown and described, it is to be understood that all matter herein is tobe interpreted merely as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

I claim:

1. A flour sifter attachment for a motor food mixer having an opening in an upper part thereof and a motor driven shaft exposed in said opening, said attachment comprising a horizontally elongated bracket having a depending tubular bushing on one end adapted to be inserted in said mixer opening for supporting said bracket in laterally extending position on said mixer, a vertical sifter cylinder n the opposite or outer'end of said bracket, a vertical sifter shaft supported for rotation in said cylinder and having agitator blades, a flexible shaft arched between the upper end of said sifter shaft and said driven shaft and extending downwardly through said tubular bushing, and means operatively connecting the related ends of said flexible shaft to said driven shaft and the upper end of said sifter shaft, respectively, said bracket comprising an upwardly arched handle for carrying said attachment when disconnected from said food mixer, said handle comprising an upwardly arched tube spacedly surrounding said flexible shaft and fixed at its opposite ends to portions on said bracket in protective relation to said flexible shaft.

A flour sifter attachment for a motor food mixer having an opening in an upper part thereof and a motor driven shaft exposed in said opening, said attachment comprising a horizontally elongated bracket having a depending tubular bushing on one end adapted to be inserted in said mixer. opening for supporting said bracket in laterally extending position on said mixer, a vertical sifter cylinder on the opposite or outer end of said bracket, a vertical sifter shaft supported for rotation in said cylinder and having agitator blades, a flexible shaft arched between the upper end of said sifter shaft and said driven shaft and extending downwardly through said tubular bushing, and means operatively connecting the related ends of said flexible shaft to said driven shaft and the upper end of said sifter shaft, respectively, said bracket comprising an upwardly arched han- 4 dle for carrying said attachment when discon nected from said food mixer, said handle comprising an upwardly arched tube spacedly surrounding said flexible shaft and fixed at its opposite ends to portions on said bracket in protective relation to said flexible shaft, the end of said arched tube adjacent to said sifter shaft having a tubular bushing rotatably receiving the upper end of said sifter shaft and the adjacent end of said flexible shaft.

3. A flour sifter for attachment to a power takeoff shaft of a motor driven food mixer comprising a horizontally disposed bracket,'a vertically dis posed sifter cylinder positioned adjacent one end of said bracket and dependingly supported therefrom, sifting means including a vertically disposed rotatable shaft positioned within said cylinder, an open-ended arcuate tubular handle having one end positioned in alignment with respect to said rotatable shaft and secured to said cylinder, the other end of said tubular handle bein aligned with said power take-01f shaft and supported in said bracket adjacent its other end, and flexible coupling means disposed within said tubular handle having one end operatively connected to said shaft and having the other end adapted to be coupled to said power take-off shaft.
