s Claims. (011 0403 This invention relates to newand useful improvements and structural refinements in key cases, and the principal object of the invention [is to provide a device of the character herein described, which may be conveniently and effectively employed for holding and ejecting a, plurality of keys, preferably separated into two groups or"sets, said sets of keys being independently and selectively accessible by opening suitable fastening flaps with which the key case is provided.

By virtue of this arrangement, a set of automobile keys, for example, may be positioned in one compartment of the key case, while a set of house or office keys may be similarly positioned in another compartment of the case, so that the appropriate key may be easily and quickly selected when required, without the necessity of inspecting all the keys, as is usually the occurrence when key cases of conventional designs are being employed.

A further object of the invention is to provide a key case which is simple in construction, pleasing in appearance, and in which the keys may be easily applied or removed.

Another object of the invention is to provide a key case which will not easily become damaged, which will readily lend itself to economical manufacture, and which is otherwise well adapted for the purpose for which it is intended.

With the above more important objects in view and such other objects as may become apparent as this specification proceeds, the invention consists essentially of the construction and arrangement of parts as shown in the accompanying drawings in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention, showing one of the flaps thereof unfastened;

Figure 2 is a plan view of the key case in the fastened position;

Figure 3 is an exploded view showing the various components from which the invention is formed; and

Figure 4 is a cross-sectional view, taken substantially in the plane of the line 4--4 of Figure 2.

Like characters of reference are used to designate like parts in the specification and throughout the several views.

Referring now to the accompanying drawings in detail, the invention consists of a key case designated generally by the reference character Ill, the same preferably being formed from leather, or the like, and embodying in its construction a pair of juxtaposed side members ll, I2 provided at the relatively opposite edges thereof with bendable flaps I3, [4 respectively.

Each of the members ll, l2 consists of a pair of juxtaposed laminations, namely, the outer lamination l5 and the inner lamination Hi, the outer lamination of each member being rigidly secured to the inner laminationin any suitable manner, as for example, by the line'of stitching IT. It will be observed that the laminations are shaped so as to facilitate integral formationof the members II, I! with the respective flaps l3, [4. Thefiaps l3, 14 are provided with female snap fastener members it) which coast with male fastener member l9'provided on the main body portion of the members ll, l2. However, matters are-so arranged that the female fastener on the flap of each member will coact with the male fastener on the remaining member, as is best illustrated in the accompanying Figure 4.

A pair of flexible dividing strips 26], 2| are each secured at one end thereof to one of the side members (I I, 12), while the other ends of the strips are secured to the remaining of the two side members. In other words, one end of the strip 20 is secured to the inner lamination l6 of the member II by means of the male fastener 19, while one end of the strip 2! is similarly secured to the inner lamination [6 of the member l2 by the second male fastener.

The remaining end of the strip 20 issecured by means of the female fastener l8 between the laminations l5, l6 of the member I2, while the remaining end of the strip 2| is similarly secured between the laminations of the member H. It will be observed that the laminations 16 are formed with suitable slots 22, whereby the entry of this strip between the innerand outer laminations is faciiltated.

It will also be noted that the members H, l2 are spaced one from the other and that the strips 2!], 2| are doubled upon themselves, as it were, so as to separate or divide the space existing between the members ll, l2 into a pair of

compartments

Each set of keys is retained in position by means of suitable securing elements 2"! of conventional type and each comprising an internally threaded screw member 28 and a coacting eXternally threaded screw member Bill, as will be clearly apparent. Each of the securing elements 21 extends through suitable apertures 36 formed in the spaced side members I I, I2.

When the invention is placed in use, the strips 2b, 2! will function as effective dividers, so to speak, for separating the two groups or sets of keys in the case, the keys in the two groups being independently and selectively accessible by the unfastening of the appropriate flap l3, l4) substantially a shown in Figure 1.

It is believed that the advantages and use of the invention will be clearly apparent from the foregoing disclosure and accordingly, further description thereof at this point is deemed unnecessary.

While in: the foregoing there has been shown and described the preferred embodiment 01 this invention it is to be understood that minor changes in the details of construction, combina-' tion and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

What I claim as my invention is:

1. In a key case, the combinationor a pair or loosely connected side walls adapted to be: spreadapart from a closed to an open position, a flap provided on. one of said walls and bendable over the" second wall, c'oacting fasteners on said second wall and on said flap for retaining the case in its closed. position,.a key supportingand' ejecting strip formed frornflexible material and having a substantially U-shaped configuration, said strip being disposed between. said walls, one endof the strip being secured to said second wall and its remaining end being secured to said flap, and a key mounting element extending through said Walls at a remote point from said strip, whereby keys positioned on said element may be engaged by the bight portion of said strip and. thereby projected outwardly from the case upon opening of said flap and spreading of said walls.

2. The device as defined in claim 1 wherein the ends of said strap are secured to said second wall and to said flap by said fasteners.

3. The device as defined in claim 1 wherein said flap consists of inner and outer laminations secured together at the marginal edges thereof, the inner lamination being formed with a slot, said strip extending through said slot and being secured to the fastener on said flap, whereby an end portion of the strip is disposed between and protectively enclosed by said laminations.
