The tip and ring terminals are connected to their respective points on the induction coil and the operators circuit is now complete to the outside circuit (not shown). An operator using an operator's transmitter and receiver set, such as operators set No. 2, plugged into the auxiliary jack may transmit and receive over the outgoing circuit.
Now we will give consideration to the conditions existing when two operators transmitter and receiver sets are in use simultaneously on one common battery feed induction coil. First plug 9 shall be inserted into the regular jack and plug 59 inserted into the auxiliary jack. A circuit can be traced from battery, lower winding of battery feed coil 6|, lead 66, jack spring 45, jack tip 51, plug tip .55, transmitter No. 2, plug tip jack tip 53, jack spring 35, jack spring 23, jack tip I of the regular jack, plug tip 5, transmitter No. l, plug tip I, jack tip 3, jack spring l5, lead 61, primary winding P of the induction coil, upper winding of the battery feed coil El, to ground. The secondary circuit can be traced from one side of the receiver No. l, sleeve 2 of plug 9, sleeve 4 of the regular jack, lead 68, condenser 63, the S portion of the secondary winding of the induction coil, condenser 64, lead 69, spring 46 of the auxiliary jack, sleeve 58 of jack, sleeve 56 of plug 59, receiver No. 2, plug sleeve 52, jack sleeve 54, jack spring 36, of the auxiliary jack, jack spring 21 of the regular jack, sleeve 8 of the regular jack, sleeve 6 of plug 9, to the other side of receiver No. 1.
As previously mentioned the tip and ring terminals of the operators circuit may be connected to any outside circuit (not shown) and either an operator with set No. 1 or an operator with set No. 2 may transmit and receive over the outside circuit, or both simultaneous.
What is claimed is:
1. In an operators telephone circuit, terminals for said circuit, an induction coil having a primary and a secondary winding, two sets of twin jacks and each of said twin jacks individually connected to said primary and said secondary windings, an operators transmitter and receiver set terminating in a four conductor twin plug, comprising two plug tips and two plug sleeves, for transmitting telephone conversations and for receiving telephone conversations and other signals over the said terminals of said circuit responsive to'said plug being inserted in one of said jacks, both of said sets of twin jacks equipped with switching springs, the switching springs of one of said twin jacks co-operating with the switching springs of said second twin jack when said four conductor twin plug is inserted in said one twin jack to short circuit the said second twin jack.
2. An operators circuit as claimed in claim #1 in which the switching springs of said second twinvjack co-operate with the switching springs oisaid one twin jack, when said four conductor twin plug is inserted in said second twin jack, to short circuit the said one twin jack.
3. In an operators telephone circuit, a first operator transmitter, a first operator plug having a pair of plug tip terminals, said first transmitter connected in series with said pair of plug tip terminals of said first plug, a first operator jack having a pair of jack tip terminals, a first pair of make springs and a first pair of break springs associated with said first jack, a second operator plug having a pair of plug tip terminals, said second transmitter connected in series with said pair of plug tip terminals of said second plug, a second operator jack having a pair of jack tip terminals, a second pair of make springs and a second .pair of break springs associated with said second jack, a pair of talking conductors, the first of said talking conductors terminating in one of the jack tip terminals of said first jack and the second of said talking conductors terminating in one of the jack tip terminals of said second jack, a circuit for bridging said first transmitter across said pair of talking conductors including said plug tip terminals of said first plug, said jack tip terminals of said first jack, said first pair of make springs and said second pair of break springs completed in response to the operator plugging said first plug into said first jack; a second circuit for bridging said second transmitter across said pair of talking conductors including the plug tip terminals of said second plug, said jack tip terminals of said second jack, said second pair of make springs and said first pair of break springs completed in response to the operator first plugging said second plug into said second jack; and a third circuit for bridging said first and second transmitters in series across said pair of talking conductors including only the plug tip terminals of both said first and second plugs and the jack tip terminals of both said first and said second jacks in response to plugging both said plugs into said first and said second jacks.
4. An operators telephone circuit as claimed in claim 3 wherein said first pair of make springs and said second pair of break springs in said first circuit close a short circuit across the jack tip terminals of said second jack, wherein said second pair of make springs and said first pair of break springs in said second circuit close a short circuit across the jack trip terminals of said first jack, and wherein both said first and said second break springs open said short circuits in response to plugging both said plugs into said first and said second jacks.

In' an operator's telephone circuit, a first operator receiver, a first operator plug having a pair of plug sleeve terminals, said first receiver connected in series with said pair of plug sleeve terminals of said first plug, a first operator jack having a pair of jack sleeve terminals, a first pair of make springs and a first pair of break springs associated with said first jack, a second operator receiver, a second operator plug having a pair of plug sleeve terminals, said second receiver connected in series with said pair of pl sleeve terminals of said second plug, a second operator jack having a pair of jack sleeve terminals, a second pair of make springs and a second pair of break springs associated with said second jack, a pair of talking conductors, the first of said talking conductors terminating in one of the jack sleeve terminals of said first jack and the second of said talking conductors terminating in one oi the jackislee've terminals of said second jack;' a
circuit for bridging said first receiver across said pair of talking conductors including said plug sleeve terminals of said first plug, said jack sleeve terminals of said first jack, said first pair of make springs and said second pair of break springs completed in response to the operator plugging said first plug into said first jack; a second circuit for bridging said second receiver across said pair of talking conductors including the plug sleeve terminals of said second plug, said jack sleeve terminals of said second plug, said second pair of make springs and said first pair of break springs completed in response to the operator first plugging said second plug into said second jack; and a third circuit for bridging said first and second receivers in series across said pair of talking conductors including only the plug sleeve terminals of both said first and second plugs and the jack sleeve terminals of both said first and second jacks in response to plugging both said plugs into said first and said second jacks.
6. An operators telephone circuit as claimed in claim 5 wherein said first pair of make springs and said second pair of break springs in said first circuit close a short circuit across the jack sleeve terminals of said second jack, wherein said second pair of make springs and said first pair of break springs in second circuit clos a short circuit across the jack sleeve terminals of said first jack, and wherein both said first and said second break springs open said short circuits in response to plugging both said plugs into said first and said second jacks.
7. In an operators telephone circuit, first and second operators headsets, plug and jack connections for said headsets, a pair of talking conductors, a first circuit for operatively connecting said first operators headset to said talking conductors completed in response to the operator plugging said first headset into one of said jack connections, a second circuit for operatively connecting said second operators headset to said talking conductors completed in response to the operator plugging said second headset into another of said jack connections, and a third circuit for operatively connecting said first and second headsets in series and to said talking conductors in response to the operator plugging said first and said second headsets, respectively, in said one and said another of said jack connections.
