My present invention relates to an improved outside tubing packer or the type especially designed to repair breaks in well tube pipes which are normally housed in and spaced from the outside casing which is conventionally cemented in position.
'l hepurpose of-my invention is to enable the operator to repair a break in the well pipe at a minimum of time and expenseby sliding the packerover the well pipe and between the pipe .and casing and the packer is so constructed that it may be adjusted'to tightly engage the well'pipe to seal 01f the break. V
In the accompanying drawings I have illustrated one complete example of the physical embodiment of my invention according to the best mode I have thus far devised, but it will be understood that various changes and alterations may be made in the exemplified structure within the scope of the appended claims.

Referrin now to the drawings I have illustrated the present preferred embodiment of my invention as comprising a cylinder 2 having an end collar or mouthpiece 4 with its inner and outer walls 6 and 8 extending beyond the end of the cylinder and curving outwardly to facilitate passage of water and a well tube therethrough.
On the other end of the cylinder I provide a second collar l threadedly engaging the cylinder at l2 and between the two collars I employ the spring clips [4 having transverse end bars !6 which fit into the interior slots l8 of the collars and are compressed as shown so that the wide middle portion 20 of the clips will engage the inner surface of the outside tubing 22.
The shoulder 24 of the collar Ill creates a reduced portion 26 upon which is threadedly engaged a tube or sleeve 28 telescoping into the tube or coupling 30 and threadedly engaging the same at 32. The reduced, thickened end or hub 34 of the tube 30 may be secured at 36 to a lowering instrument.
Under the shoulder 38 of the end 34 I utilize a ball race employing ball bearings 4'0 and the pressure tube or cylinder 42 is spaced within the tube 30 and engaging the ball race.
Between the end of the pressure cylinder 42 4 Claims. (Cl. 16610) and the collar H) I employ a pair of compressible gasket members or sections as rubber indicated as at #34 and 46 cylindrical in shape and having telescoping co-acting tapered or beveled ends 48 and 5!], the said members being confined inside the tube 28.
Thus with the packer lowered into the outside casing and over the well pipe with the lower cylinder 2 below the break, the clips will retain the packer in selected position, and rotation of the tube 30 through its reduced end will force the pressure tube down compressing the gasket members into sealing engagement with the well pipe and closing or cutting on the break.
Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a well tubing break-through packer, the combination which comprises a cylindrical body of resilient material having a bore to receive a well tube, a collar having a bore corresponding to and aligned with the bore of the cylindrical body abutting one end of said body, an internally threaded sleeve carried by the collar and extended over the said cylindrical body, a tubular pressure cylinder abutting the opposite end of the cylindrical body, a coupling member enclosing the pressure cylinder and having a hub with a threaded bore, said coupling member having internal threads threaded on the sleeve extended from the said collar, and a tubular retaining cylinder connected to and aligned with said collar, and having spaced longitudinally disposed outwardly bowed spring clips on the outer surface of said retaining cylinder engaging the surrounding well casing for frictionally retaining the said packer in position in a bore with the resilient cylindrical body positioned over a break-through in the wall of the well tubing.
2. In a well tubing break-through packer, the combination which comprises a cylindrical body of resilient material formed of two sections with overlapping beveled ends and having a bore to receive a well tube, a collar having a core correspondin to and aligned with the bore of the cylindrical body abutting one end of said body, an internally threaded sleeve carried by the collar and extended over the said cylindrical body, a tubular pressure cylinder abutting the opposite end of the cylindrical body, a coupling member enclosing the pressure cylinder and having a hub with a threaded bore, said coupling member having internal threads threaded on the sleeve extended from the said collar, and a tubular retaining cylinder connected to and aligned withsaid collar, and having spaced longitudinally disposed outwardly bowed spring clips on the outer surface of said retaining cylinder engaging the surrounding well casing for frictionally retaining the said packer in position in a bore with the resilient cylindrical body positioned over a breakthrough in the wall of the well tubing.
3. In a well tubing break-through packer, the combination which comprises a cylindrical body of resilient material having a bore to receive a well tube, a collar having a bore corresponding to and aligned with the bore of the cylindrical body abutting one end of said body, an internally threaded sleeve carried by the collar and extended over the said cylindrical body, a tubular pressure cylinder abutting the opposite :end of the cylindrical body, a coupling member enclosing the pressure cylinder and having a hub with a threaded bore, said coupling member having internal threads threaded on the sleeve extended .from the said collarpand having a shoulder at the inner end of the hub lcoactin with the adjacent end of the pressure cylinder, a ball bearing positioned between the said shoulder and end of the pressure vcylinder, and a tubular retaining cylinder connected to and aligned withlsaid collar, and having spaced longitudinally disposed outwardly bowed spring clips on the outer surface -of said retaining cylinder engaging the surrounding well casing for frictionally retaining the said packer in position in a bore with the resilient cylindrical body positioned over a breakthrough in the wall of the well tubing.
4. In a well tubing break-through packer, the
combination which comprises a cylindrical body of resilient material having a bore to receive a well tube, a collar havin a bore corresponding to and aligned with the bore of the cylindrical body abutting one end of said body, an internally threaded sleeve carried by the collar and extended over the said cylindrical body, a tubular pressure cylinder abutting the opposite end of the cylindrical body, a coupling member enclosingthe pressure cylinder and having a hub with .silient cylindrical body positionedover .a breakthrough in the wall of the well tubing.
