3 Claims. 1
This: invention relates to improvements in paper, roll dispensers.
An object, of the inventionis. to provide an improved paper roll dispenser including a supporting bracket and a rotatable roll support mounted on said bracket .and provided with meansfor clamping a roll of paper in position on said roll support;
Another object of the invention is to provide animproved paper roll dispenser including a supporting bracket and a. rotatable-roll support detachably mounted on said bracket andhavingpositive means forengaging the insidesurface of a roll tohold the, same in position .upon the roll support.
A further'object of the inventionis to provide an improved paper roll dispenser including a combined supportingand attaching bracket and, arotatable roll support detachably mounted on;
said bracket and having resilient means for. engaging the inner surface of, a roll of paper to hold the same on, said roll support, and further means for resiliently tensioning the rotation of said.- roll support.
A still further object. of. the, invention is-toprovide an improved paper roll dispenser which will be highly efiicient in use and relatively inexpensive to manufacture and produce.
Other. objects will appear as the description proceeds. I
In the accompanying drawings which form a part of this application,
Figurel is a side elevation partly in section, showing a supportingbracket with one forinof paper rollholder in positionsthereon;
Figure 2 is a partial longitudinal sectional-vie through the base. of. theroll holder and the adjacent end of the supportingbracket shown in Figure. 1; I
Figure 3 isa side.elevationofamodified form of detachable roll holder;
Figure 4 is an end view of the roll holder shown in Figure 3;
Figure 5 is a side elevation Of a second modified form of detachable roll holder;
Figure 6 is an end view of the roll holder shown in Figure 5;
Figure 7 is a top view of a bracket with roll holder supporting a roll of toilet tissue thereon;
Figure 8 is a top view of a modified view of a paper roll dispenser having a gravity adjusting cutter blade associated therewith, and
Figure 9 is a front elevation of the modification shown in Figure 8.
Like characters of reference are used throughout the following specification and the accompanying drawings to designate corresponding parts.
In carrying out the-invention, there is provided a combined supporting and attaching bracket formed of. a single castingof suitable material or. is' formed of a single piece of metal bent at a right angle to form the arms I and 2. Apertures, 3 with concentric countersunk areas 4 are formed through the arm I, and are adapted to,
supporting screw or bolt 1 which has a reduced.
threaded end 8 and an enlarged head 9 with kerf H]. at its opposite end.
A leaf spring II is apertured to fit over the threaded end8 of the screw or bolt 1, and is bent slightly to bear on th adjacent end of the body member 6 to resiliently tension same. A pair of U-shaped spring roll supporting members l2 are secured by the rivets or fastening means I3 to the side of the body member 6 at its outer end, said, members I2 being arranged at right angles to each other, and fastened together at their juncture points by means of the rivet I4. The distance between the arms of the U-shaped members. I2 is greater toward their outer end thanat theirv ends. of attachment to the body members, hence when a paper roll I5 is forced over the members I2 and onto the body 6 into contact with the roll positioning flange 2!] it willbefirmly held upon roll. support, as shown in FiguresU'LLB and 9 of the drawings.
Aform roll support is shown in Figures 3 and 4 of the drawings, and includes the body member IIi formed with roll positioning flange I8, and is bevelled off or rounded oif as at I9 on its outer end.
The body member I 6 is formed with four equally spaced longitudinally extending recesses 2|, which provide four equally spaced longitudinally extending roll supporting ridges or shoulders 22. A headed screw Or bolt 23 extends through a central longitudinally extending aperture in the body member I6 and is threaded at 24 on its inner end to be received in the threaded opening 5 in the arm 2 of the bracket member.
A second modification is illustrated in Figures 5 and 6 of the drawings, and comprises an annular roll positioning flange 26 formed with a reduced hollow shank 21, through which the supporting screw 28 is adapted to pass to have its threaded end 29 received in the threaded opening 5 in the arm 2 of the bracket member. A pair of U-shaped flexible wires 30 having their opposite arms bowed as at 3| are secured to the flange 26 to extend outwardly therefrom at substantially right angles to each other, and are further provided with the interconnected loops 32 and 33 at the outermost point to support the paper roll when placed thereon.
A modification of supporting brackets l and 2 is illustrated in Figures 8 and 9 of the drawings, and is included in bracket support arms 35 and 36 extending at right angles to each other, and spaced apertures 3'1 and 38 are formed through the arm 35 for receiving screws (not shown) for attaching the dispenser to a table or retail counter for dispensing wrapping paper rolls.
A U-shaped slide member 39 is formed with inturned ears 40 and ll, and is adapted to be slidably mounted upon the arm 36 of the supporting bracket. The slide member 39 is also formed with an inwardly directed arm 42 formed integrally therewith at its outer end, said arm 42 providing a support for the cutter blade 43 which is secured thereto by the bolts 44, to extend 1ongitudinally of and adjacent the edge of the roll of paper 45 supported on the roll supporting member generally denoted by the reference numeral 46, which is rotatably mounted on the spindle 41 attached to the bracket arm 36 at approximately center. A locking screw 48 will be threaded through the slide member 39 to engage the arm 36 to lock the slide member and blade support at the top of arm 36 so that the paper roll may be placed on roll supporting member 46, and having placed the paper roll in position locking screw 48 is released or unlocked to enable slide member secured to cutter blade to slide downward on arm 36 so that cutter blade may lay adjacent the outer surface of paper roll until roll is entirely used.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
l. A paper roll dispenser including a supporting bracket, a bearing screw detachably secured to said bracket, a paper roll supporting body rotatably mounted upon said bearing screw, a flange at one end of said body, said body being tapered to a smaller diameter at its free end, resilient U- shaped radially and outwardly extending paper roll supporting members disposed at right angles to each other connected together at thei outer ends and having their inner ends secured to the free end of said flanged paper roll supporting body, the outer ends of said members being of greater diameter than their inner ends, and a paper roll disposed upon said body and members having a continuous circumferential contact with said body and spaced point contacts with said members.
2. A paper roll dispenser including a supporting bracket, a bearing screw detachably secured to said bracket, a paper roll supporting body rotatably mounted upon said bearing screw, 9. flange at one end of said body, said body being tapered to a smaller diameter at its free end, resilient U- shaped radially and outwardly extending paper roll supporting members disposed at right angles to each other connected together at their outer ends and having their inner ends secured to the free end of said flanged paper roll supporting body, the outer ends of said members being of greater diameter than their inner ends, and a paper roll disposed upon said body and members with its inner end in contact with the flange on said roll supporting body and having a continuous circumferential contact with the periphery of said body and spaced point contacts with said members.
3. A paper roll dispenser including a supporting bracket, a bearing screw detachably secured to said bracket, a paper roll supporting body rotatably mounted upon said bearing screw, a flange at one end of said body, said body being tapered to a smaller diameter at its free end, resilient U-shaped radially and outwardly extending paper roll supporting members disposed at right angles to each other connected together at their outer ends and having their inner ends secured to the free end of said flanged paper roll supporting body, the outer ends of said members being of greater diameter than their inner ends, a paper roll disposed upon said body and members with its inner end in contact with the flange on said roll supporting body and having a continuous circumferential contact with the periphery of said body and spaced point contacts with said mem bers, and a roll tensioning leaf spring supported upon said bearing screw engageable with the in ner end of said roll supporting body.
