SPUR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 251,336, dated December 20, 1881.
Application filed June 8, 1881. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, AUGUST BUERMANN, of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented anew and useful Improvement in Spurs, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to spurs; and it consists in a certain improvement in the construction of the same, as herein shown and described. The attaching-band or foot portion of the spur is provided with an integral upward extension adapted to be folded back at right angles to form oneof the supporting-arms for the rowel. Directly under said supportingarm a second arm is provided, which is riveted to the band, and the rowel is pivoted between the said arms, as shown.
In the accompanying drawings, Figurel represents aplan view of a spur having my improvements. Fig. 2 represents a side view of the same.
A designates the band or foot portion of the spur, and B the upward extension folded back at right angles to form a supporting-arm for the rowel. E designates the other rowel-arm riveted to the band A below the arm B, the rowel 0 being pivot-ed between the two arms, as shown in the drawings.
I claim- An improved spur consisting of the band A, the integral arm B, bent over at right angles to the vertical plane of the band, and a supplemental arm, E, fastened to the band below the arm B, and a rowel, O, pivoted between such arms, all as set forth and shown.
