1 Claim. 1

This invention is directed to, and it is an object to provide, a novel accessory for mens wearing apparel; such accessory being a simulated pocket handkerchief.

Another object of this invention is to provide a simulated pocket handkerchief which comprises a relatively stiff tongue, of cardboard or the like, adapted to engage wholly in the handkerchief pocket of a mans coat, and a plurality of fabric points or tabs secured to and projecting upward from the tongue and out of the pocket to simulate the tips or exposed portion of an actual folded pocket handkerchief.

A further object of the invention is to provide a simulated pocket handkerchief, as above, in which the points or tabs are small triangular pieces of cloth folded once and then secured along one edge by a tape to the tongue at its top portion.

A further object of the invention is to provide a practical and convenient accessory for mens wearing apparel which will be exceedingly effective for the purpose for which it is designed.

These objects are accomplished by means oi such relative arrangement of parts as will fully appear by a perusal of the following specification and claim.

Fig. 1 is a front elevation of the article.

Fig. 2 is a rear or back elevation of the article.

Fig. 3 is an edge view showing the article as engaged in the handkerchief pocket of a mans coat.

Referring now more particularly to the characters of reference on the drawings, the simulated pocket handkerchief comprises a flat relatively stiff tongue I, of cardboard or the like; said tongue being of a length somewhat less than the average depth of the handkerchief pocket of a mans coat.

A plurality of fabric points or tabs 2 project upwardly from the top portion of the cardboard tongue I, and are disposed in a row as shown.

The fabric points or tabs 2 are folded triangular pieces disposed with one point uppermost whereby to simulate the tips of an actual, folded pocket handkerchief. The free edges of each of the folded triangular points or tabs 2 are finished or hemmed, as at 3.

The lower ends of the points or tabs 2 are disposed in engagement against the front face of the top portion of the cardboard tongue I, and an adhesive tape 4 surrounds such top portion of the tongue in attaching relation to said points or tabs 2. In this manner the article is assembled simply and with ease, and without the necessity of employing metallic staples or special manufacturing equipment.

As the points or tabs 2 are formed of rela- 5 tively small triangular pieces of fabric, said points or tabs can be manufactured economically from odds and ends, or from scraps of shirting material or the like which are usually discarded in clothing mills.

The lower corners of the cardboard tongue I are rounded to facilitate insertion of said tongue into the handkerchief pocket 6 of a mans coat.

The tongue I, when so engaged in a handkerchief pocket 6, is wholly enclosed and not visible from exteriorly of the pocket; the points or tabs 2 projecting upwardly out of the pocket in simulation of the tips of an actual, folded handkerchief.

From the foregoing description it will be readily 220 seen that there has been produced such an accessory for mens wearing apparel as substantially fulfills the objects of the invention, as set forth herein.

While this specification sets forth in detail the present and preferred form of article, still in practice such deviations from such detail may be resorted to as do not form a departure from the spirit of the invention, as defined by the appended claim.

Having thus described the invention, the following is claimed as new and useful, and upon which Letters Patent are desired:

A simulated pocket handkerchief comprising a flat, thin and relatively stiff tongue, a plurality of fabric handkerchief-tip simulating elements overlapping the tongue along the top and on one side thereof, and a strip of adhesive tape detachably overlapping for a portion of its width 'and adhered against the lower edge of the ele- 40 ments and the adjacent side of the tongue immediately therebelow, and extending about and adhered against the opposite side of the tongue.
