"The-'=resulting "structure isiclearlrshown in Figure 2 and an egg 'is 'shown therein. ""It is noted that the Web members are so folded that the egg receiving portion is generally octagonal in shape. This construction provides eight bearing surfaces adapted to engage the periphery of an egg. The ends of the said Webs ID are secured by interlocking the end slots I6 of each web.
A substantially rectangular strip 24 is provided with identical folds 26 at both ends and in the 1 center thereof. Two tabs, 30 are cut into each fold. In the material between folds is'a plurality of longitudinal bent portionsor folded portions 32. A first fold 26 is secured to the end of the said web member I!) by inserting the said tab 30 into the hereinbefore mentioned slots IS. The body portion of the said strip is then placed under the said web and the marginal folds 32 are slipped into the said slots l 2, described above. The second fold 26 is secured to the second end 5 of the said web by means of thesaid tab 30 and the strip is curved or bent over the top portion of the said web. The marginal folds in the top portion of the said strip are then releasably protection against shock and breakage to each r for. this purpose.
3 egg therein. It is noted that ten bearing surfaces are provided for each egg thereby reducing shock transmission and practically holding each egg in suspension. Further protection to each individual egg against shock and breakage 5 is provided by the cartons flexibility and plurality of interlocking joints afiording proper resilience to the device. This feature is necessary, especially in view of the variation in sizes of eggs.
Referring now to the second embodiment of the instant invention, an egg container capable hmding a larger er of eggs is disclosed."
Web member In similar in configuration, but I larger than the above described web, is provided. A pair of the said webs in are joined exactly as has been described and the strip 36 .(seen in Figure 9) is slid in the plane of the longitudinal center of the said Web ID. As is noted suitable guide ways 38 are cut into the said member 36 The strip member 24, seen in Figure 11, is then secured to the said web as described hereinbefore. As is apparent from an inspection of Figure 11 the onl material difference between th strip shown in this figure and the strip shown in Figure 4, is in size and consequently the-location of the tabs 30.
The operation of each embodiment illustrated .in,.the drawings, is identical.
By grasping the tongue 34 and pulling the same, the first fold 26mm is released and the said marginal folds 32 are pulled out. of their slots I4. The eggs in the con- 1 .tainer are now readily accessible. In breaking down the device the said strip is simply pulled a little further and consequently taken out of en- .-;85
gagement with the web. The ends of the said ,web members are simply slipped apart as is each .web slipped from interlocking engagement with each other.
It is now apparent that a simple and extremely- 40 inexpensive break-down egg carton is provided by this invention. Further, due to the extreme simplicity of the device, considerable time is saved in fabricating and dismantling the egg carton in use 7 and reuse of the same. 7 1

Number While there has been described but preferred embodiments of the instant invention, it is apparent to those skilled in the art, that certain changes may be made herein including omissions and additions, without departing from the spirit of the invention. Accordingly, limitation is desired only in the scope of the following claims.
Having thus described the instant invention, what is claimed as novel and improved is as followszf" 3. 5 1i; f
1. egg container comprising a longitudinal strip, transverse folds in said strip to form a bottom, top and end section, a pair of web members intersecting each other at spaced intervals forming individual compartments, angularly inclined *slots'in'sai'd web members and opening through themarginal edges of said web members and re- "leasably locked with the edges of said top and bottom; a crease extending longitudinally of said bottom and top and the fiiaterial of said bottom and said top .on onehside ofsaid crease extending at I web'members and said end sections to releasably lock said: end;,section and theends .of said web 2. The combination ofo-laim 1 and a plurality of transverse; foldsin saidweb members forming at least six sidedcompartn ents.
