4 C ims- 1 This invention relates to stackers and loaders, and is an improvement over the construction embodied in application Serial No. 623,067, filed October 18, 1945, now Patent No. 2,481,994 granted Sept. 13, 1949, to Raymond M. Ginder for Hay Stacker and Loader and over Patent No. 2,228,796, dated January 14, 1941, issued to William V. Warren for Stacker.
An object of this invention is to provide as an attachment for a hay stacker and loader, a hydraulic operator for the sweep which can be attached to present staekers and loaders as a substitute for the winch type operator.
Another object of this invention is to provide an operator attachment of this kind which will provide a three-torone ratio with the use of only a pair of single pulleys so that the necessary swinging movement may be obtained for the sweep.
A further object of this invention is to provide an operator attachment of this kind which includes a frame for securing to the base of the stacker and loader frame, a hydraulic cylinder fixed longitudinally of the frame with the side bars of the frame forming guides for the ram or plunger, there being an idler pulley on the remand asecond idler pulley depending below the-frame.
To the foregoing objects, and others which may hereinafter more fully appear, the invention consists of the novel construction, combinationand arrangement of parts, as will be more specifically referred to and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, but it is to be understood that changes, variations, and modifications may be resorted to which fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.

A hydraulic cylinder 28 is disposed between the frame bars 23 being fixed at its rear end on angle member 24 by means of a U-bolt 29. 3 trained over pulley 34 and extends downwardly and rearwardly therefrom.
The connection plate 25 has dependingly secured thereto a second sheave 35 embodying a single pulley 36 and the cable 20 extends partly about pulley 36 and from this pulley extends forwardly and upwardly as indicated at 31. A round bar 38 is secured to the lower edge of plate 32, cable extension 3! engaging under the bar 38 and then extending upwardly and is secured to a bolt 39 carried by the sheave block 33.
The frame bars 23 form a guide for the ram 3| and in the present instance the frame members 23 have one side thereof extending inwardly as indicated at 40. The plate or head 32 has extending laterally therefrom slide bearing 4| engaging beneath the horizontal slides 46 of the guide members 23 so that the ram 3! will be relieved of any upward strain caused by raising of the sweep structure l9 when the latter is loaded.
In the use and operation of this device the hydraulic attachment herein disclosed is designed as a substitute for the mechanical sweep operator which is used on stackers and loaders at present available. It will be understood that this bydraulic operator may also be incorporated in a new sweep structure. The frame structure 22 is secured within the base frame it] being secured to forward transverse bar 23 on the upper side of this bar and secured to intermediate transverse bar IS in depending relation with respect to this bar. The cylinder 28 is connected to a source of fluid pressure supply and when it is desired to raise the sweep, ram 3! is moved forwardly thereby increasing the length of the loop between the sheave assemblies 33 and 35. Due to the fact that sheave assembly 35 is carried by a fixed portion of the frame and sheave assembly 33 is movable and one end of the cable 28 is secured to the sheave assembly 33, there will be provided a three-to-one ratio so that the cylinder 28 and the ram 3| may be made of relatively short length.
I claim:
1. A sweep operator attachment for a stacker and loader having a base frame formed of side bars and transverse connnecting bars, an upstanding support carried by said base frame, and a" rockable sweep structure rockably mounted intermediate the height of said support; said attachment comprising a frame formed of a pair of parallel frame angle bars for disposing lengthwise of said base frame and at a forward and upward inclination relative to the latter, said angle being disposed with the horizontal flanges thereof uppermost and extending inwardly towards each other, means securing the forward portions of said pair of bars to a forwardconnecting bar, a cross bar fixed to the rear portions of said pair of bars, means securing the outer ends of said cross bar to said side bars, a; hydraulic cylinder between said pair of bars,. means securing said cylinder relative to said pair of bars, a, plunger slidable in said cylinder, a pulley carried by the forward end of said plunger, a second pulley dependingly disposed below said cylinder rearwardly of said first named pulley, a third pulley carried by said sweep structure, slide means carried by said plunger and slidablyengaging under said horizontal flanges for relieving said plunger of vertical loads, and a cable fixed at one end relative to said plunger and trained about said pulleys and having the other end fixed to the top of said support.
2. A sweep operator attachment for a stacker and loader having a base frame formed of sidebars and transverse connecting bars, an upstanding support carried by said base frame, and a rockable sweep structure rockably mounted intermediate the height of said support; said attachment comprising a frame formed of a pair of parallel frame bars for disposing lengthwise of said base frame and at a forward and upward inclination relative to the latter, said frame bars being each formed with an inwardly extending flange along the top edge thereof, means securing the'forward portions of said pair of bars to a forward connecting bar, a cross bar fixed to the rear portions of said pair of bars, means securing 1e outer ends of said cross bar to said side bars, a hydraulic cylinder between said pair of bars, means securing said cylinder relative to said pair of bars, a plunger slidable in said cylinder, a pulley carried by the forward end of said plunger, a second pulley dependingly disposed below said cylinder rearwardly of said first named pulley, a. third pulley carried by said sweep structure, a cable fixed at one end relative to said plunger and trained about said pulleys and having the other end fixed to the top of said support, and slide m ans carried by said plunger slidably engaging under said flanges formed on said pair of bars,
3. A sweep operator attachment for a stacker and loader having a base frame formed of side bars and transverse connecting bars, an upstanding support carried by said base frame, and a :nockable sweep structure rockably mounted intermediate the height of said support; said attac'hment comprising a frame formed of a pair of parallel bars for disposing lengthwise of said base frame and at a forward and upward inclination relative to the latter, said bars each being formed with an inwardly directed flange along the top edge thereof, means securing the :forward portions of said pair of bars in overlying position on one of said connecting bars, a cross bar fixed relative to the rear portions of said pair of bars, means securing the outer ends of said cross bar to said side bars, a pair of plates fixed between said pair of bars, a hydraulic cylinder disposed on said plates between said pair of bars, means securing said cylinder on said plates, at plunger slidable in said cylinder, a pulley carried by the forward end of said plunger, a pulley dependingly carried by one of said plates, a pulley carried by said sweep structure, slide means car ried by said plunger and engaging slidably under said flanges on said bars, and a cable fixed at one end to said plunger and trained about said pulleys and having the other end fixed to the top of said support.

A sweep operator attachment for a stacker and loader having a base frame formed of side bars and transverse connecting bars, an upstanding support carried by said base frame, and a rockable sweep structure rockably mounted intermediate the height of said support; said attachment comprising a frame formed of a pair of parallel bars for disposing lengthwise of said base frame and formed with inwardly directed flanges along the top edge thereof, means securingthe forward portions of said pair of bars in overlying position on one of said connecting bars, a cross bar fixed relative to the rear portions of said pair of bars, means fixed between said cross bar and said pair of bars supporting the latter in downwardly spaced relation with respect to said cross bar whereby said parallel bars are upwardly and forwardly inclined relative to said base 5 frame, means securing the outer ends of said 5 cross bar to said Side bars, a pair of plates fixed between said pair of bars, a hydraulic cylinder disposed on said plates between said pair of bars, means securing said cylinder on said plates, a plunger slidable in said cylinder, a pulley carried by the forward end of said plunger, a pulley dependingly carried. by one of said plates, a pulley carried by said sweep structure, slide means carried by said plunger and slidably engaging under said flanges, and a cable fixed at one end to said plunger and trained about said pulleys and having the other end fixed to the top of said support.
