My invention relates to neck tie holders or hangers adapted to be secured to closet Walls or the like.

The object of my invention is to provide a neck tie hanger comprising a bracket secured to a base board and a plurality of arms supported on the bracket and adapted to support neck ties.

, A further object of my invention is to provide a neck tie hanger of the character indicated above, each arm of which is divided in a plurality of spaces along its length, each space being adapted to receive and hold a neck tie.

Another object of my invention is to provide a neck tie hanger of the character indicated above, each arm of which is adapted to be slidably supported by the bracket, so that the arm extends at right angles in horizontal working position from said bracket, but can be arranged in idle position hanging downwardly on said bracket.

Other objects not specifically mentioned may appear in the following specifications describing my invention with reference to the accompanying drawing illustrating a preferred embodiment of my invention.

It is however, to be understood, that my invention is not to be limited or restricted to the exact construction and combination of parts described in the specification and shown in the drawing, but that such changes and. modifications can be made, which fall within the scope of the claims appended hereto.

The figure illustrating the neck tie holder or hanger according to my invention is a perspective view thereof.

The tie holder or hanger forming the subject matter of my invention comprises a base board l0.of any desired ornamental outline and made from any suitable material, such as wood, metal, plastics or the like.

The base board is provided with holes H to receive nails, screws or the like (not shown) to fasten the base board on a closet wall or the like.

A bracket a has a horizontal front lbar l2 extending over the major portion of the width of the base board ID. The front bar I2 has a rectangular cross section and is bent at one of its ends rearwardly at right angles to form a side bar l3, which in turn is bent also at right angles to form an inwardly extending foot I4.

At the other end of the front bar l2 an upwardly extending stop lug I5 is formed, and from this stop lug a second front bar [6 extends in the opposite direction of the first front bar l2. The second front bar l6 has also a rectangular cross section and the thickness thereof is equal to the thickness of the first front bar l2 and the stop lug 15. The height of the second front bar is approximately equal to one half of the height of the first front bar, and the front, rear and bottom surfaces of the two front bars are arranged in continuous planes respectively.

The outer end. of the second front bar 16 is bent rearwardly at an approximately right angle to form a second side bar ll, the rear end of which is bent at a right angle to form a second foot I8.

Each foot [4 and I8 is provided with a central hole l9 adapted to receive a screw, nail 20 or the like to secure the bracket a onto the base board A plurality of tie supporting arms b is provided. Each arm consists mainly of a bar 2| having a rectangular cross section.

On the rear end of each arm b a comparatively long, high and upwardly extending suspending plate 22 is formed, in which a rectangular hole 23 is provided, the length of which extends transversely to the arm bar 2|. corner of each rectangular hole 23 an upwardly extending rectangular notch 24 is formed adapted to recieve the upper portion of the first front bar I 2 of the bracket a slidably therein. The entire height of the hole 23 plus the notch 24 permits the arm 2) to slide over the stop lug l5, when the arm is lifted to bring the bottom of the hole 23 into contact with the bottom of the bracket :1.

The arms I) are put on the bracket a before the latter is secured to the base board H] by sliding the foot ill of the bracket through the holes 23 in the suspending plates 22. The arms b may then hang downwardly in idle position on the side bar I! and the second front bar 16 as illustrated on the left side of the drawing.

When an arm b is to be placed in working position it is pivoted to extend forwardly from the bracket a and is slid along the second front bar 16 toward the stop lug IS. The arm is lifted, as described above, so that it can be moved over the stop lug onto the first front bar 12, and then it is lowered so that the upper portion of the first front bar l2 enters the notch 24.

The weight of the arm bar 2|, which extends now forwardly from the first front bar 12, urges the front surface of the notch 24 into engagement with the front bar, so that the arm 12 is securely supported in forwardly extending working position.

On the front end of each arm bar 2| an upwardly extending front stop lug 25 is formed In the rear upper and any desired monogram or the like may be engraved, carved, or etched in said shield.

Having described my invention I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. A hanger of the character stated comprising a base board adapted to be secured to. a wall or the like and a plurality of article supporting arms, including a bracket having afront bar. fastened on the base board and adapted to support the arms slidably thereon, an upwardly extending stop lug on the bracket dividing the front bar of said bracket in two parts, each of' which has a rectangular cross section, both parts having the same thickness, but one ofthem being narrower than the other, the wider part being adapted to support the arms in forwardly extending working position and the narrower part permitting the armsto hang downwardly in idle position, a suspending plate extending upwardly from the rear portion of each arm and provided with a rectangular opening adapted to receive the wider front bar part slidably therein, an upwardly extending rectangular notch in the upper re'ar corner of said rectangularopening adaptedto receive the upper portion of the wider front bar: part slidably therein, the total height of the rectangular hole plusthe notch permitting the arm to slide over the stop lug.

2. A hanger of the character stated comprising a base board adapted to be secured to a wall or the like and a plurality ofarticle supporting. arms, including a bracket having a front bar fastened on the base board. andv adapted to support the arms slidably thereon, an upwardly extending, stop lug on the bracket dividing the front bar of said bracket in two parts,.each of which has a rectangular cross section, both parts having the, same thickness, but one of them being narrower than the other, the wider part beingadapted to. support the arms'in forwardly extending working position and the narrower part permitting" the arms to hang downwardly in idle position, a suspending plate extending upwardly from the rear portion of each arm and provided with a rectangular opening adapted to receive the. wider front bar part slidably therein, an upwardly extending rectangular notch in the upper rear corner of said rectangular opening adapted to receive the upper portion of the wider front bar part slidably therein, the total height of the rectangular hole plus the notch permitting the arm to slide over the stop lug, the front wall of the notch being adapted to engage the front surface of the wider bracket bar part to support the arm in forwardly extending working position.

3. A hanger of the character stated comprising a base board adapted to be secured to a wall or the like and a plurality of article supporting arms, including a bracket having a front bar fastened on the base board and adapted to support the arms slidably thereon, an upwardly extending stop lug on the bracket dividing the front bar of said bracket in two parts, each of which has a rectangular cross section, both parts having the same thickness, but one of them being narrower than the other, the wider part being adapted to supportthe arms in forwardly extending working position and the narrower part permitting the arms to hang downwardly in idle position, a suspending plate extending upwardly from the rear portion of each arm and provided with a rectangular opening adapted to receive the wider front bar part slidably therein, an upwardly extending rectangular notch in the upper rear corner of'said rectangular opening adapted toreceivethe upper portion of the wider front bar part'slidabl'y therein, the total height of the rectangular hole plus the notch permitting the arm to-slide over the stop lug, the front wall of the notch being adapted to engage the front surface of'the wider bracket bar part to support the arm in forwardly extending working position, a plurality of dividing lugs arranged on the upper surface of each arm bar at intervals from each other and forming spaces for supporting neckties individually' thereon, and a stop lug on the outer end of each arm to' prevent the tie arranged adjacent' thereto from slipping off the arm.
