Description

March 21, 1950 J. FINKELSTEINAS 2,501,253
MANUFACTURE OF IMITATION ASTRACHAN FURS Filed April 11, 1946 In 21 61277501? affair/fie Z65? Z1246 Patented Mar. 21, 1950 UNITED STATES PATENT GFFICE MANUFACTURE OF IMITATION ASTRAKHAN FURS J okubas Finkelsteinas,-Paris, France Application April 11, 1946, Serial No. 661,320 In France April 11, 1945 advantageous in that articles of this kind are unsuitable for being manufactured on an industrial scale because such knots should be made by hand and only limited lengths of chenilles may be used.
The present invention has for its objects to provide a method for the manufacture of imitation astrachan furs, which should obviate the aforesaid disadvantage by doing away with knots and using chenilles of any desired length.
A method proposed by the present invention for making imitation astrachan furs substantially consists in forming a chenille into loops spaced along its length, binding said loops by means of a thread, and then securing the chenille thus prepared on to a supporting backing.
A chenille and thread used for carryin out said method may both be of unlimited length, so that looped chenille may be manufactured in continuous way, said thread making one or several turns round each loop and passing from one loop to the other, what may be effected by means of suitable machining.
If desired, said chenille may have its spaced loops bound separately, that is, by means of independent threads, especially where relatively cheap man-power is available. l I
The invention also comprises within its scope an industrial product constituted by a velvety chenille formed into loops spaced along its length and bound by means of a thread, manufactured substantially as indicated in said method proposed by the present invention.
The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying diagrammatic drawing which shows byway of example a looped chenille designed according thereto:
It is visible from said drawing that a chenille I presents loops 2 spaced along its length and bound by means of a thread 3 which makes one or several turns round each loop 2. At the righthand side of the drawing there is shown a loop in the course of its formation, not yet bound. The chenille thus prepared is secured by any suitable means on to a backing or support 4.
2 What I claim is: 1. Method for the manufacture of imitation astrachan furs consisting in forming Without knotting a chenille into loops spaced along its length, binding said loops by means of a thread,
and then securing said prepared chenille along its length to a supporting backing, said chenille and thread being both of unlimited length, said thread making at least one turn round each loop and passing continuously from one loop to the other, thereby permitting the looped chenille to be manufactured in a continuous way by means of suitable apparatus.
2. Method for the manufacture of imitation astrachan furs substantially consisting in forming without knotting a chenille into loops spaced along its length, binding said loops by means of an independent thread, and then securing said prepared chenille along its length to a supporting backing, said chenille being of-unlimited length, each of the chenille loops being bound by means of said independent thread.
3. As anew industrial product, an astrachan fur imitation article comprising a chenille of unlimited length formed into loops spaced along its length without being knotted, a binding thread of any desired length extending substantially parallel to the chenille and wrapped about the base of the loops to retain the latter in shape, and a backing to which the chenille is secured and supported along its length.
4. As a new industrial product, an ,astrachan fur imitation article comprising a chenille of unlimited length formed into loops spaced along its length without being knotted, a binding thread making at least one revolution around the base of each loop to retain the latter in shape, and a backing to which the said looped chenille is secured.
