Description

C. M. MALLORY. SUSPENSION GLBVIS FOR ELEVATORS.
Patented Nov. 29,1881.
ETERS. Phawmm n hun wash-" m. D. c4
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES M. MAIJLORY, OF TOLEDO, OHIO.
SUSPENSlON-CLEVIS FOR ELEVATORS.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 250,090, dated November 29, 1881.
Application filed October1,1881. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be itknown that I, CHARLES MARTIN lVIAL- LORY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Toledo, in the county of Lucas and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Suspension-Glevis for Hay-Elevators, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a suspension-clevis of improved construction attached to guide-pulley, thereby renderingitless complicated and more easily hung up in a barn.
The invention will first be described in connection with the drawings, and then pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents an elevation of my improved clevis put up in Working position in barn, the latter being shown in vertical section. Fig. 2 is a side View, and Fig. 3 a top view of the combined suspension-clevis and guide-pulley.
Similar letters refer to similar'parts throughout the different views.
The guide-pulley D, with suspension-clevis 0 attached, is tied to a pair of rafters at peak of barn, over barn-floor, serving as fulcrum or support for carrier a while hoisting hay from wagon. The carrier at is held in position on clevis c by a little catch pulled down over it by pulley J. When the pulley J comes in contact with carrier at the latter is detached from clevis c and swings back into the mow with fork full of hay. When the fork is tripped, releasing it from hay and the horse backed up, the weight I? descends, causing the carrier a to promptly return to clevis 0, guided by pulley D, whence it is ready for another load.
Suspension-clevis c is made preferably of malleable or bar iron, and attached to guidepulley D by rivet d.
The weights I are attached to the extending ends 0 of the clevis c by rivet K, serving as counter-balance.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The clevis 0, provided with eyes e, extending ends 0, and weights I, and combined with guidepulley D, substantially as specified.
. CHARLES MARTIN MALLORY.
