My present invention relates to improvements in folding holders and in the nature of an improvement on or a refinement of the invention disclosed in my United States Letters Patent No. 778,282, issued December 27, 1904, for Folding picturey album..

The principal object of this invention is to provide a folding holder that may be set up as a folded screen.

Otherobjects of the invention will be apparent from the following description, reference being had tothe drawings.

To the above end, the invention consists of the novel construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter Ydescribed and deiinedin the claims.

The folding holder comprises two duplicate cover members 20 and 2| and an intermediate member 22. The intermediate member 22 is hinged at 20 to one of the longitudinal edges of the cover member 20 and hinged at 2| to the opposite longitudinal edge of the cover member 2| It is important to note that the intermediate member 22 is shorter than the cover members 2|) and 2| and is spaced inwardly of the top and bottom edges of said cover members 2|] and 2|.

The two cover members 20 and 2| are cross connected at their free longitudinal edge portions outwardly of the intermediate member 22 by cords 23. The end portions of the cords 23 are threaded through pairs of eyelets 24 in the cover members 20 and 2| and tied as indicated at 23. These cords 23 hold the cover members 20 and 2| for relative hinge-like movement.

When one of the cover members 2li- 2| is open, the cords 23 hold said members for relative hingelike movement, with the intermediate member 22 held folded onto the closed cover member. it will be noted by reference to Fig. 1, that the eyelets 24 are located farther from the end edges of the cover members 20 and 2| than at their longitudinal edges. The arrangement of the eyelets 24 prevents the cords 23 from slipping over the respective corners of the cover members 20 and 2|. When one of the cover members 2 and 2| is open, the cords 23 are drawn across the inner face of the other cover member out- Wardly of the ends of the intermediate member 22.

The cover member 2U and 2| and the intermediate member 22 are upwardly tapered. This tapering of the members 20, 2|, and 22, permits the holder to be set up as an easel as shown in Figs. 2 and 4 with either cover member 202| open and the respective side of the intermediate member 22 exposed.

The diagram illustratedin Fig. 5, shows how the members 20, 2|,k and 22 may be cut from a single sheet of material Without waste except for a small piece e at each end of said sheet.

The word cords is used in the claims in a broad sense to cover ribbons 0r other suitable flexible connections.

From what has been said. it will be understood that the folding holders described are capable of modifications as to details of construction and arrangement within the scope of the invention herein disclosed and claimed.

What I claim is:

1. In a holder of the class described, two cover members, an intermediate member, the longitudinal edges of each of said members being upwardly tapered, said intermediate member being hinged at its longitudinal edges to opposite longitudinal edges of the cover members, and upper and lower cords extending transversely of the cover members and attached thereto at their free longitudinal edge portions, said intermediate member being shorter than the cover members and movable therebetween when the cover members are open, said cover members when closed, holding the intermediate member folded onto one of the cover members and the cords laid transversely on said cover member outwardly of the ends of the intermediate member, said intermediate member when the cover members are open, holding said cover members with their inner edge portions closely positioned, the holder, when said cover members are opened and turned backwardly of a common plane, may be set-up as a foldable screen in which it leans backwardly and will stand alone.

In a holder of the class described, two cover members, an intermediate member, said intermediate member being hinged at its longitudinal edges to opposite longitudinal edges of the cover members, and upper and lower cords extending transversely of the cover members when closed and attached to the cover members at their free longitudinal edge portions, said intermediate member being shorter than the cover members and movable therebetween, when the cover members are opened, said cover members when closed holding the intermediate member folded onto one of thecover members and the cords laid transversely on said cover member outwardly of the ends of the intermediate member, said intermediate member, when the cover members are open, holding said cover members with their inner longitudinal edges closely positioned.
