(ci. 15-211) This invention .relates to washing apparatus for hollow ware, such as glasses, tankards, mugs, milk bottles, jars and the like, which apparatus is of thekindcomprising an upright-core extending up through apertures in layers of ilexible material secured at their edges to a frame, which flexible layers are provided with flexible elements extending inwardly towards the core while the core has a number of iiexible elements extendingoutwardly from it. In use, the assemblage is disposed in a vessel containing the washing liquid and'the hollow ware is pushed up and downo-ver the core between the flexible elements on the' core which wipe the inside surface of the article and the inwardly directed flexible elements which wipe the outside or" the articles. The object of the invention is to provide an improved means for mounting the aforesaid layers of exible material on the frame.
According to this invention, a washing apparatus of the kind referred toisv characterised in that the peripheral edge of each layer ofA exible material is gripped between two anges of a yring which is U-shaped in cross-section with the bend of* the U directed outwardly, each ofwhich rings is mounted on said frame.. lor` example, each ring may be shaped similarly to a hollow truncated cone of small axial length with the bend between said limbs disposed at the greater diameter, each of which rings is mounted on said frame so that its bend is lowermost. The aforesaid frame may comprise a number of upright arms disposed around and spaced away from said core and having niches formed on their inner side in which said rings rest.
The aforesaid arms may be formed from metal strips which are secured at their lower ends to a base which also supports said core and which arms are suiiiciently resilient to' enable them to be deected outwardly for the insertion of said rings and means are provided for tying the upper ends of the arms together after the insertion of the rings.
The aforesaid tying means may comprise one of said rings which issupported by the outside of the llpper extremities of said arms and secured thereto by clamping screws or the like.
The lower ends of said arms may be bent inwadly and secured toa metal plate to which said core is also attached, and a sucker has its upper I arranged oe ove e 2 wall clamped between said plate and an under plate.

We claim:
1. A washing apparatus comprising an upright core, a number of flexible elements extending out from said core, a frame encircling and carrying said core, a number of apertured spaced layers of flexible material encircling the core and provided with inwardly directed flexible elements a number of rings each of U-shaped cross-sec- -i thev upper ends of the arms together after the tion and shaped similarly to a hollow truncated cone of "small axial length with the bend of the f U arranged outermost. each of which rings encircles the periphery of a layer with the flanges of the U gripping opposite sides of the layer, said frame being provided with seatings for the afore'- said rings and means for retaining said rings on their seating.

4. A washing apparatus comprising an upright l`.` core, a number of flexible elements extending out .from said core, a frame comprising a number of ,upright ilexible metal arms, a base secured to the lower ends of the arms and supporting said yping oppositesides of the layer, said upright arms being formed with niches into which the rings are adapted to be sprung, and set screws clamping the outer ring to the extremities of said arms so asfi to tie them together and hold the other rings in position.
5. A washing apparatus comprising an upright core, a number of flexible elements extending out from said core, a frame comprising a number of Iupright ilexible metal arms, a metal plate selayer with the flanges of the U gripping opposite slides of the layer, said upright arms being formed with niches into which the rings are adapted to be sprung, and means for tying the upper ends of the arms together after the insertion of the rings, and a single sucker arranged on the other side of the plate and a clamping meansbeneath said sucker and secured to said plate.
