This invention relates to improvements in feed mixing machines.
An object. of the? invention is' to provide an improved feed mixing: machine. which will include a. longitudinally extending hollow body or-mixing chamber having a. pair of interconnected parallel. extending. motor operated agitators disposedv therein. including radially extending angled paddles arranged at approximately 120 degrees apart. and with. the ends: of the paddle blades on adjacent agitators: overlapping.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved-iced mixing machine which will include a longitudinally extending hollow body or hopper having a filling inlet at one endand a hinged tail-gate or: discharge. outlet at the opposite end,
together with a pair of interconnected parallel extending motor operated agitators rotatably mounted therein, including radially extending angled paddles arranged at approximately 120 degrees apart and spaced longitudinally on said agitators with the outer ends of said paddle blades on adjacent agitators overlapping.
A further object. of. the invention is to provide an improved motor operated feed mixing machine which will include a pair of interconnected longitudinally extending agitators rotatably mounted in an. elongated body or mixing chamben. with: a feed. hopper at. one end and a discharge outlet at the opposite end of said body, and. an inverted V-shapedangle iron bottom partition plate disposed longitudinally in said body for forming spaced parallel extending troughs or sumps.
A still further object of the invention is to provide an improved motor operated feed mixing machine which will be highly efficient in operation and relatively inexpensive to manufacture and produce.
Other objects will appear as the description proceeds.

In carrying out the invention, there is pro, vided an improved feed mixing machine comprising an elongated hollow body or mixing chamber 1 being. substantially U shaped in cross.-. section and supported. in elevated position. by means. of the. angle. iron. supporting legs 2* suitably attached. thereto.
The body I; is: formed with. an upwardly and outwardly flared" feedz' inlet hopperv 3." at. one end, a. centrally disposed top portion 4", and with an inspection aperture and aclosure plate. ormemher .5 hinged at near; the opposite end of said body 1 and atthetop thereof.
The body I.- is also provided, with a longitudie nally extending: inverted. V' shaped angle. iron partitionplate 'Lsecured to its: inside bottomsum face anddisnosed centrally: thereonbeins an led off. at: its rear end. thereby forming paced, longie tiidinally extending parallel. troughs; or 8 and 9 to receive the agitators later to be described.
A discharge door 10 will be hinged at H to the bottom of the body I adjacent its rear end, and will support the arcuate upwardly extending handle l2 disposed adjacent the side of said body I. A spring catch l3 will be attached to the side of the body I in any desired manner, and will terminate in the locking shoulder 14 on which the handle l2 will seat While holding the door ID in closed position.
When the mixed feed which has worked to the rear end of the body I is to be dumped, it is only necessary to pull outwardly upon the handle l2 releasing it from the seat or shoulder M on the spring catch, and the weight of the feed on the discharge door III will cause the same to drop, thereby discharging the mixed feed. When the door I!) is to be closed, the handle I2 will be grasped and swung back until it engages the spring locking catch l3 and seats upon the locking seat or shoulder M on the said spring catch l3.
Suitable bearing houses l5 and I6 will be bolted 3 by means of the bolts H to the rear end of the body I and will support the ball bearing races l8.
Similarly formed bearing houses 19 and 29 will be attached by the bolts 2| to the inner end of the body I, and will also support the ball bearing races 22.
The agitators comprise hollow pipe sections 23 to which are suitably secured by welding, the radially extending angled paddle blades 24 which are spaced at approximately 120 degrees apart and also are spaced lengthwise upon said sections 23. The ends of the paddle blades 22 on adjacent agitators will overlap somewhat, and will extend adjacent the inner opposite side walls of said body I.
The round plugs 25 and 25 are disposed in the opposite ends of the pipe sections 23 and are supported therein by means of the transversely extending keys or pins 21 and 28 disposed through the sections and plugs.
The plugs 25 and 26 have reduced outer journals 29 and 30 respectively which are disposed within the ball bearing races 18 and 22.
A gear housing 3| is removably secured upon the inner end of the body I by means of bolts 32, and encloses the intermeshing gears 33 and 34 secured upon the adjacent ends of the bearing ends 29 of said agitators, by means of the set screws 35. Keys 36 are also inserted in the key-ways 31 and 38 in said bearing ends 29, and in said gears 33 and 34 to prevent rotation between said parts.
One or more pulleys 39 will be fixed upon the bearing end 29 of one of the agitators, and will be connected by means of the belt 40 with the pulley 4| secured upon the shaft 42 of the electric motor 43 which is secured to the cross bracing members 44 connected between the legs 2 at the front end of the feed mixing body I.
In operation, the feed to be mixed is dumped into the hopper 3 at the inlet end of the body or mixing chamber I, after th machine has been set into operation by energizing the electric driving motor 43. The feed will be thoroughly mixed by the overlapping agitator blades which are adapted to rotate at a speed of approximately three hundred revolutions per minute. The thoroughly mixed feed will be worked along the bottom of the body I in the sumps 8 and 9, and will accummulate in the outer or discharge end of the body 1, whereby the discharge door 10 may be opened and the mixed feed dumped whenever necessary or desired. The agitators will be adapted to rotate inwardly and in opposite directions, whereby feed will be quickly and effectively mixed and moved to the discharge end of the machine.
From the foregoing description, it will be apparent that a highly efficient form of feed mixing machine will have been devised and provided, and one vwhich may be manufactured and produced at a relatively inexpensive cost.
While the preferred embodiment of the instant invention has been illustrated and described, it will be understood that it is not intended to limit the scope of the invention thereto, as many minor changes in detail of construction may be resorted to without departure from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
A feed mixing machine including an elongated hollow body or mixing chamber, a feed hopper and a fixed end wall at one end thereof, discharge means at the opposite end thereof an inspection door directly above said discharge means, a removable end wall closing said opposite end parallel longitudinally extending agitators comprising parallel extending sections of pipe, plugs pinned in the outer ends of the end sections and being reduced to form bearing ends rotatably mounted on said walls, and longitudinally spaced radially extending overlapping paddle blades supported upon said pipe sections.
