An object of this invention is toprovide an improved nursing bottle construction which includes in combination a vacuum container and a nipple secured to the container.
Another object of this invention is to provide an improved vacuum container and means for cushioning the container in its casing so that the container will not be broken if the casing and container are dropped.
A further object of this invention is to provide in combination a vacuum container in a casing, a nipple secured to the container, and means whereby the nipple may be sealed to prevent leakage so that the contents will not leak out of the container if the latter is laid on its side.
A further object of this invention is to provide a nursing bottle construction wherein the contents may be kept warm for a relatively long period so that a night feeding of the baby may be accomplished easily and quickly and at a minimum of inconvenience.
With the above and other objects in view, our
invention consists in the arrangement, combination and details of construction disclosed in the drawing and specification, and then more particularly pointed out in the appended claim.

Figure 1 is a vertical section, partly broken away and in elevation, of a nursing bottle construction embodying this invention,
Figure 2 is an enlarged view, partly in section and partly in elevation, of the upper portion of the assembly,
Figure 3 is a plan view of the device with the outer cap removed.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral l designates generally a vacuum bottle of conventional construction which is formed with a neck I l. The bottle I0 is mounted in an outer casing generally designated as 12, which includes a cylindrical side wall 13 and a bottom wall l4. The side wall l3, at spaced points therealong, is formed with outwardly offset ribs l5 within which are seated cushioning rings l6 formed of rubber or other resilient material, which are adapted to engage about the bottle I0 so as to cushion the bottle l0 within the container l2 and thereby prevent breakage of the bottle when the container is dropped or the like.
A rubber bottom cushioning member I1 formed with a concave upper end I8 is disposed on the inside of the casing bottom [4 and cushions the bottle l0 against endwise movement. The casing I2 has threaded into the upper end thereof: a bottle retaining cap'generally designated. as [9. The cap l9-is formed'with a threaded lowerportion 20: engaging complementary threads 2L car:-
ried by the upper end of the casing l2 and the upper end of the cap or retaining member 19 is formed with an inturned annular flange 22 extending over the upper end of the bottle H]. A rubber sealing ring 23 is interposed between the flange 22 and the upper end of the bottle In so as to cushion the bottle relative to the retaining member l9.
The bottle I!) is adapted to have removably mounted in the upper end thereof, a nipple generally designated as 24. The nipple 24 includes a stopper lower body 25 which is adapted to engage in the neck ll of the bottle. The stopper body 25 is formed with an annular flange 26 adapted to bear against the outer side of the retaining flange 22. The stopper body 25 has extending from the upper end thereof a nipple body 21 which is of substantially conventional construction, being formed with openings 28 whereby the liquid in the bottle 10 may be drawn there-- from. The nipple 24 is adapted to be firmly secured to the upper end of the bottle ID by means of a cap 29 which is formed with a threaded annulus 30 threadably engaging threads 3i formed on the upper end of the retaining member I9.
In order to provide a means whereby the nipple may be sealed when not in use so as to prevent leakage of the contents thereof, we have provided an outer cap 32 which is threaded as at 33 on threads 34 formed on the retaining member I9 outwardly of the lower threads 20. The cap 32 includes a cylindrical side wall 35 and an outer or top wall 36 and the side wall 35 is of such length that when the cap 32 is threaded on the threads 34, the top wall 36 will bend the nipple 21, as shown in Figure 1, forming a bend 31 between the ends of the nipple 21 and thereby forming a seal so that the liquid will not leak out of the nipple openings 28.
In the use of this nursing bottle, the liquid contents are inserted through the neck I l, the nipple 24 being removed by unthreading the cap 29. The contents are pre-heated to the desired degree before being placed in the vacuum bottle l0 so that when the nipple 24 is secured by the cap 29 on the bottle, the contents will remain in the heated condition for a relatively long period of time. The bottle construction hereinbefore described has been designed particularly for night feeding and after the nipple 24 has been secured to the filled bottle, the cap 32 is threaded on the retaining cap 3 [9 so that the nipple 24 will be bent as at 31 to seal the nipple against leakage of the contents of the bottle II).
This vacuum bottle construction will make it unnecessary to heat the milk or formula during the night so that the baby can readily be fed by merely removing the cap 32. In the event the bottle is dropped, the inner container or vacuum bottle I0 will not be broken due to the cushioned mounting of the innercontainer relative to the outer casing l2.
We do not mean to confine ourselves to the exact details of construction herein disclosed, but claim all variations falling within the purview of the appended claim.
What we claim is:
A nursing bottle construction comprising a vacuum bottle, a casing for said bottle having a threaded upper portion, a bottle retaining cap for holding said bottle in said casing, including a threaded skirt for engaging said portion and an inwardly directed flange adapted to overlie the top of said bottle, a nipple having a stopper portion engageable within the neck of said bottle and an outwardly directed flange adapted to seat on top of said cap flange, an annular nipple securing member threadedly carried by the top of said cap and adapted to clamp said nipple flange between said member and said cap flange whereby said nipple may be removed from said bottle when said securing member is disengaged from said bottle retaining cap, and an outer cap engageable over the top portion of said skirt.
