3 Claims. (Cl. 4612) The present invention relates to toy housings and has for its principal object the provision of a housing with means therein provided for ejecting missiles such as toy vehicles, balls, etc.
A still further object of the present invention is the provision of a housin of the character above indicated having a sildable door, with means for opening said door and simultaneously actuating the ejecting mechanism to propel the missile from the housing and through the open door.
A still further object of the present invention is the provision in a housing of the character above indicated of a rod, simulating a chimney pipe, which, when depressed actuates the mechanism for opening the door in the housing and simultaneously actuates the mechanism for ejecting a missile from the housing through the open door.
With the above general objects in view and others that will appear as the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings formin a part of this application and in which like designating characters refer to corresponding parts throughout the several views;

Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view, substantiallyon line 3-3 of Fig. 2, showing the door closed and the missile ejecting mechanism conditioned for use; and
Fig. 4 is a similar view with door open, with the missile ejecting mechanism in the position immediately after its operation.
Referring in detail to the present drawings there is shown therein a housing includin floor 0, a pair of spaced side walls H, front wall [2, rear wall l3, and roof I 4 supported by said walls ll, l2 and I3. Rigidly supported upon said roof I4 is an oblong, rectangular block which simulates a chimney.
Centrally of front wall l2, and adjacent floor [0 a rectangular door opening I6 is provided. A door panel I! is positioned rearwardly of said opening It for vertical sliding movement upon the inner face of said front wall l2, and is guided in its vertical sliding movement by a pair of.
guiding rails l8 rigidly afiixed to the inner face of said front wall 12, and adjacent the vertical sides of door opening l6. Said guiding rails l8 are provided with a plurality of opposed lips l9 spaced from said wall l2 for preventing door [1 from disengagementwith said front wall 12.
Extending through c himney l5, and in an axial longitudinal relation therewith, is a cylindrical rod 2d, the upper end of which normally extends above the upper end of said block I5, and simulates a chimney pipe. Said rod 20 is in the proximity of said rear wall l3, and for preventing lateral movement of said rod 20, the lower end thereof is passed through and guided within loop 2l of pin 22 driven into and rigidly supported by said rear wall 13.
Supported upon pivot 23, driven into rear Wall 53, and adjacent one side wall H, is arm 24, its free end terminating adjacent the opposite side wall H. Said arm 2 is in a spaced parallel reiation with rear wall I3, the same being disposed between said rear wall It and said rod 20. Driven into said arm 2d and adjacent said rod 20 is staple 25, within which pin 26, carried by rod 20, enters, and through the medium of said staple 25 and pin 25 said arm 2 may be angularly shifted in an upright direction, when said rod 20 is shifted.
' Passed through opening 21, made in the free end of said arm 24, and tied thereto is cord 28. Said cord 28 is extended through staple 29, which is affixed to said rear wall I 3 and through a similar staple 30, the latter driven into said front wall 82. Both'said staples 29 and 30 are in proximity of roof It, so that considerable portion of said cord 28 remains below said roof l4 and disposed between said walls 12 and I3. The opposite end of said cord 28 is'aifixed to the upper end of door H, and centrally thereof, as at 3|.
Affixed to said rear wall [3, and forwardly extending therefrom, and below roof [4, is a rectangular block 32, to the outer, free end of which an oblong, narrow and resilient spring 33 is affixed by means of screw or nail 34. The lower free end of said spring 33 extends towards floor It, and is adapted for engagement by a metallic, resilient hook 35, the shank of which rests upon the face of rear wall # 3 and is there engaged and retained by heads of a nails 35, by 'virtue of which arrangement the shank of said hook 35 may be longitudinally adjusted so as to be in a proper extended position for engaging the lower end of spring 33, as is seen in Figs. 2 and 3.
The lower end of rod 20 carries a horizontal and, laterally extending bar 31, which is in a parallel- I3 and disposed above plane between the shank opening it so as to prevent the missile from strik pair of spaced screws or 3 ing front wall 12 during its ejectment from the housing.
Assuming that door i1 is in a closed position relative to the door opening IS, with spring 33 in engagement with hook35, with vehicle 39 within rails 38, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, rod 20 remains in a raised position, with bar 31 in an elevated position above said hook 35. In that position arm 24 also remains in a raised position, as is indicated by full lines in Fig. 2. Exerting manual pressure upon the outer end of rod'2'0, which extends above chimney l5, rod 2015 caused Ito-shift downwardly, thereby shifting arm 24 downwardly to the position indicated by dotted lines in 'Fig. 2. The shifting of said arm 24 is accomplished through the medium of pin 25, as it bears upon staple 25. The downward shifting of arm 24 pulls cord 28, at the end thereof which is tied to arm 24 causing said cord 28'to shift downwardly with said'arm 2 thereby pulling the opposite end of said cord 28 upwardly, and thereby shifting door l-l upwardlyand out of opening is. Th operation of door shifting mechanism aforesaid is timed with the operation of bar 3'1, so that'when door :1 is completely out of opening 16, at that very instant bar 3': comes in contact with hook 35, depressing thersame downwardly for dis-engaging its operative outer end from spring 33. The disengaged spring 33 with an operatively strong force hits the'rear end of vehicle 39 and propels the same out of the housing through open- Zing 15.
Itisnbserve'd that door I! is of suflicientweight, so that when manual pressure upon rod 20 is released, door 11 due to its gravityshifts :downwardlywithin guiding rails is for closing opening [6. The gravitational 'force of downwardly slidingidoor t! exerts pulling action upon-cordJZB in the opposite direction from that hereinaboVedescribed, thereby shifting arm 24 upwardly and through-staple 25 andits engagement with pin '26 shiitsrod iil'upwardly to its inoperative .position, and thereby shifting bar 3! out of engagement with 2hook 35.
vZBefiore however manual pressure upon rod 2!! isnompl'etely released, rod 20 is released to a slight degree soas'to permit 'bar 31 to come out of engagement with hook 35. Thereupon vehicle .39 is replaced within track 38, and when the same is shifted toward .rear 'wall 13 ipressure thereby is eiierted'upon thelowerend of spring 33 tospring the-sameinto an-engagement withhook-fiE, positi'on shown in Fig. .3, and thereupon the manual holdiupon rod '25 is completely released. This causes downward shifting :of door :11, reconditioning th-edeviceifor .a repeated operation.
While there is described herein a preferred embodiment of the presentiinvention, it :is i nevertheless to heiunderstood that minor changes :may be. made thereinwithout dep artingiiromth'e spirit and scopezof theinvention as claimed.
