C. REISER.
A STEAMBOIEBR GLEANER. No. 247,948. Patented Oct. 4,1881.
UNITED. STATES PATENT. Cerros..
CHRIST. REISE-R, OF PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, WISCONSIN.
STEAM-BOILER CLEANER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No.- 247,948, dated October 4, 1881.
' Application tiled August, 1881: (No model.)
' full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art'to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures ot' ret'- erence marked thereon, which form a part f this specification.
Figure l shows the interior of any ordinary.
boiler in which my invention is placed; Fig. 2, a side elevation ot' my improved cleaner, parts in section; Fig. 3, view, partly in end elevation and section, ot' my cleaner-boiler iu outline.
This invention belongs to that character of devices known as steam-boiler cleaners, and the novelty consists in applying a c'eun-out pipe to the device on which patent has, a1- ready bern allowed me, whereby in a very simple, cheap, easy, and quick way I am able to Hush out said cleaner, and thus remove all sediment or deposit which may from time to time accumulate, and all without removing said tacles E at each end, and thence into a central trap or chamber, F, whence it escapes into the eduction pipes G into 'the boiler. This is all fullyy shown in my said patent, and no claim will be laid in this case on merelyv so much of this device.
Centrally or at one or both ends ofthe space or chamber F, or at any convenient point, l place a pipe and elbow attachment, H, and pipe H', which may lead out in any desired direction through the boiler-heads or boiler-shell, and be provided on the outside with a blowoft' cock, I. Thus by running plenty of water through the cleanerand blowing oi'at the same time all the sediment or refuse matter collected front or deposited by the water in any of the chambers or traps ot' the cleaner will be removed. This can all be easily managed without causing the water in the boilerto foam; or the cleaner cati be flushed when the boiler is cold by ruiming plenty of water through it and opening the blow-ott' cock. Probably the ordinary head from any water-supply pipe will answerfor this purpose; butit will be very easy to make this iiow sufciently strong to accomplish this result.
Having thusdcscribed my invention, what I considernew, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In combination with the steam-boiler cleaner composed ot'inlet-pipe C, trough D, receptacles E, trap F, and eduction-pipes G, the blow-oft' pipe H H', suitably provided with astop-coek, all substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I aftix my signature in presence ot' two witnesses.
CHRIST. REISER.
