Application July 10,1947, Serial No. 760,019 s Claiins. (01. 2201) In the form shown for illustration in the drawings, my smokers stand comprises a main supporting spider I having extending radially therefrom arms 2 provided in theirouter ends with enlargements 3 formed with vertically extending cylindrical bores 4 in which are mounted the upper ends 5 of the supporting legs 6. Fixed to the upper end 5 of each of the supporting legs 6 is a collar 1 positioned, so that when the bottom end of the enlargement 3 rests thereon, as seen in Fig. l, the threaded upper end 8 of the upper end 5 of the supporting legs will extend a sufficient distance above the upper end of the enlargement 3 to receive a nut 9 for tightening these. parts together. When .nut 9.1a tightened upon the threaded end 8 of each of the upper end portions 5 of the supporting leg 6, the enlargement 3 and the upper portion 5 of said legs will be tightly A similar construction is formed for the upper end of each of the supporting legs as will be understood in Figs. 1 and 4.
For ornamental appearance each of the nuts 9 and the bottom end oi thesupporting spider I will be tapered to a point. Supporting spider l is centrally formed with a threaded. opening or bore Ill to threadably receive the threaded-lowertions. from th rod I2 which passes downwardly through a central opening I6 in said plate and through a central opening I! insaid spacer stem it. Mounted upon the upper surface of plate I5 between the knob l3 and plate is an upper spacer member l8 having ,a central vertical opening through which rod 12 passes.
From this it will be seen that the parts are rigidly clamped to plate [5 by rod I2 being threaded into the threaded opening Ii) of the supporting spider I by inserting the rod thereinto and through these parts and rotating the knob I3 in a tightening direction. The legs 6 are preferably formed at theirlower outer ends with enlargements IQ of ornamental character, and which are preferably providedat their lower ends with a soft cushioning element 20 such as rubber,
3 smokers stand, four being shown in Fig. 3 and three in Fig. '7, for illustrative purposes only.
As seen in Fig. 2 the plate 65 extends laterally in both directions from the bolt l2, and at its outer end on each side of said bolt this plate is formed with a circular opening within which is removably seated an ash tray 2i, each of these trays being formed at its upper edge with an annular flange '22 to set over the upper edge of the opening 23 formed in plate l5. In this direction of its length the plate #5 is symmetrical on both sides of the center for the reception of said ash trays. As shown in Fig. 4 these ash trays are preferably downwardly tapered to a central point 2 3 although other shapes may be used if desired. Surrounding the outer edge of flange 22 is a sheet metal upstanding neck 2%) slightly bent inwardly and formed at its upper edge with an annular flange 26. Seated over flange is a complemental flange E'Lformed on the upper edge of the skirt portion 23, which skirt tapers inwardly and downwardly from flange 2i and at its inner lower edge is formed with a cylindrical portion 223 having openings which are diametrically opposite each other to receive the extending ends of the small shaft or pin which is fixed. to the dish cover 3! for covering the upper end of the ash tray. This disk cover 3 I, by reason of this mounting just described, is capable of being rotated to deposit ashes in the ash tray as desired.
Upstanding from the upper surface of disk 3! is a projection 32 which serves as a finger piece for manipulating the disk cover 3!. If desired the flange 27 at the upper edge of skirt 28 may be welded, brazed or fixed in any desired manner to the upper surface of the flange 25 of neck 25, so that the top portion of the ash tray may be lifted away from the bowl 2| as a unit. Also fixed above the flange 21 Of skirt 28, by welding, brazing or otherwise as desired, are apair of diametrically opposite cigarette holding members 53 for temporarily receiving a lighted cigarette. The neck member 25 is preferably removable from flange 22 of the ash bowl to facilitate removal of ashes from this bowl when desired. As seen in Fig. 5 the two ash trays or bowls 2| are of similar construction and symmetrically positioned with relation to the center of plate l5. As the two ash trays are of similar construction only one of them has been described in detail, it being understood that said description applies also to the ash tray on the other side of the smokers stand,
As shown in Fig. 2 the plate I 5 is formed on one side with the outwardly extending arms 34 carrying the ringlike member 35 within the opening of which ringlike member is positioned a cigarette container 35. As seen in Fig. 4 this cigarette container is preferably in the form of a cylindrical can of an appropriate size to hold ciga rettes, and is formed adjacent its upper edge with an outwardly extending bead 31'seated' upon the upper edge of the annular ring 35. This container is formed with a. removable lid 38 having a marginal flange 39 removably. seated over the upper edge of the container, this cover being provided with a handle, 45 to enable removal of the cover when desired.
Upon the opposite side of the axisof plate [5 passing through the ash trays is a pair of outstanding arms 4| having integrally fixed at their outer ends an annular ring 42 within the opening of which is seated. a cigarette lighter 43. As shown in Fig. 6 this cigarette lighter is provided adjacent its upper edge with an outwardly ex- 4 tending head 44 seated upon the upper edge of the ring 42.
From the above it will be seen that the plate I5 is preferably flat and at its outer edges is formed with openings to receive the ash trays, the cigarette container and the cigarette lighter. Also the construction of this smokers stand is such that it may be readily positioned upon a table, desk, or the like for easy access for use.
As seen in, Fig; 5 I may, if desired, interpose between the supporting spider l and the plate I5 an upstanding extension member 45 for positioning the plate I5 and its smoking accessories at a higher level when it is desired that the legs 6 rest upon the floor instead of upon a table or the like. When using the extending stem 45 the member [4 may be positioned either at the top of this extension 45 (as shown in full lines), or at the bottom thereof as shown in dotted lines. in
Fig. 5, depending upon individual taste. Outside of the interposition of the:extension member 45 between the supporting spider and the plate I5, the structure shown in Fig. 5 is the same as that shown in Figs. 1 and 4. The bowls 2| of the ash trays may be of either transparent or translucent glass, plastic material, metal or any other ornamental and desirable material suitable for the purpose.
