Dispensers `of this type are generally of one or the other o two kinds. One kind supports the y'roll -b-y'a supporting member which will permit the strip of tissue tto =be unwound vcontinuously; that is, it `-`vvill permitethe roll Ytoturnaround and aroundirrdenitaly without stopping. The other ty-petof :dispenser is; so arrangedas to permit thetissue roll to make but alsingle revolution, means being provided tofstop the unwinding operation after the :roll has made approximately one revolution.

The present dispenser is designed to have the combined advantages of the two types of dispensers above referred to. Stop means are provided so that, normally, thetoilet paper roll will make but a single revolution as a result of one unwinding operation, but several turns of the paper maybe removed without necessitating more than one forward and backward rotary movement of the roll.

It is believed that the invention will be readily understood from a detailed description thereof taken in connection with the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 is a side view of the dispenser mounted upon a supporting wall, as in a bathroom, showing a roll of toilet paper supported thereon, and

Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the device.

Referring now to the drawings, in which like reference characters indicate the same parts in both views, I is a wall plate adapted to be secured to the wall of a toilet or any other desired surface by screws, nails or similar devices. A pivot rod or support 2 has its innerend 3 rmly fixed to plate I by any means desired and extends outwardly therefrom, a distance somewhat greater than the length of a toilet paper roll.

It may be here explained that the Xture may be formed of metal, plastic or even wood. The manner in which the end 3 of rod 2 will be secured to plate I will depend on the material of which they are made. A framework or reel 4 is rotatably supported on the rod 2 as will be presently explained. Two oblong end pieces or brac-kn ets 5 and 6 are provided as shown in the drawings. Extending between the end pieces 5 and E is a pair of roll supporting bars 'I and 8, each of which has its opposite ends fixed to like ends of the elongated end pieces 5 and 6, respectively. Thus, the end piece 5 may be slightly larger than end piece 6 so that the reel 4 will be somewhat tapered. The reel 4 will be as long as or slightly longer than the toilet paper roll with which it Will be used and of a size which will permit the tubular center of a toilet tissue roll to be snugly slipped thereon.

Fixed to mounting plate I is a stop I2 which is positioned in the path of stop I3 on end member 5 s0 as to limit the movement of the roll to one nearly complete revolution.

As the holes 9 and I0, in end pieces 5 and 6, are positioned nearer the bar I than bar B, when at rest, the reel 4 and the roll carried thereby will tend to assume a position with the supporting bar 8 substantially lowermost.

In using the present xture, the central tube or spool of the tissue roll will be xed onto the reel 4 so it will remain firmly thereon. The parts should be so proportioned that the inner end of the roll will be adjacent to the end piece 5 when properly positioned on the reel 4. Now, if the end I4 of the paper be pulled downwardly, the roll will rotate until stop I3 engages stop I2 and prevents further movement. The end I4 of the tissue, up to the top of the roll, may be readily torn off whereupon the roll will return to its normal position of rest with bar 8 lowermost.

If it is desired to remove several turns of the tissue strip from the roll at one time, the end I4 of the strip will be grasped and, by a sort of circular movement of the hand about the roll, as many turns may be unwound as is desired. This is made possible by the fact that the rod 2 is supported at one end only, the outer end of the fixture being free and open to permit the ready unwinding of the paper strip therefrom.

While applicants preferred embodiment of the invention has been disclosed herein, many modications in material, form and proportions may 3 be made in the invention without departing from the spirit thereof. As for instance, the rod 2 may be mounted directly on the supporting surface as by a driven or screw-threaded fastening or the like. The scope of the invention should thus be limited only by the scope of the claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent o f the United States is: Y

2. In a toilet tissue dispenser, a wall plate, a pivot rod, means at one end only of said rod for xing said rod to said Wall plate and at right angular relation thereto, av roll supporting lrnember comprising a pair of, elongatedend pieces rotatably mounted onl-said rod in spaced relation, the said end pieces being similarly arranged eccentrically about said pivot rod, and a pair of generally parallel roll supporting bars arranged to receive a roll of toilet paper thereon, each of said bars having its opposite ends xed Awith like ends of said end pieces, respectively,l a stop fixed with 4 one of said end pieces, and a xed stop mounted on said wall plate in the path of the stop on the said end piece to limit the rotation of said supporting members.

3.
