Description

J. PINCHOFF CROTCH SHIELD July 12, 194g.
Filed Oct. 19, 1946 FIG.|.
INVENTOR v JACK PINCHOFF 3 xix/WM ATTORNEY FIG.3.
Patented July 12, 1949 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention relates to improvements in shields for attachment to the inside of trousers at the crotch portion thereof and has particular reference to a shield of the type described which is made up of a triple layer of material namely two outer covering elements of a light weight substance and an intermediate or inside element of impermeable material,
An object of this invention is the provision of a shield as described which, when attached to the inside crotch of the garment, will prevent discoloration and rot to the fabric of the garment caused by involuntary urine leaks due to certain diseases, by perspiration or by other exudation from the body.
Another object of this invention lies in the construction of a shield or protector of the character described, wherein an outer and an upper layer of light weight covering fabric encloses a third layer of material composed of any suitabl impervious material and all suitably fastened together and attached to the inside of the trousers in the crotch portion of the garment.
Another object of this invention is the provision of a shield of the character described which is formed of wing-like extensions adapted to cover a maximum portion of the inside crotch area of the garment.
The invention possesses other objects and features of advantage, some Of which, with the foregoing will be set forth in the following description and in the claims wherein parts will be identified by specific names for convenience, but they are intended to be as generic in their application to similar parts as the art will permit. In the accompanying drawings there has been illustrated the best embodiment of the invention known to me, but such embodiment is to be regarded as typical only of many possible embodiments, and the invention is not to be limited thereto.
The novel features considered characteristic of my invention are set forth with particularity in the appended claims. The invention itself, however, both as to its organization and its method of operation, together with additional objects and advantages thereof, will best be understood from the following description of a specific embodiment when read in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure l is an elevational view of the upper portion of a pair of trousers showing the seat portion broken away to expose to view the inside front portion of the trousers from the waist band to the crotch and shows the shield or protector attached.
Figure 2 is a view of the shield flattened out,
Figure 3 is a sectional view of same taken along the line 3-3 of Fi ure 2.
Referring in detail to the parts numeral H designates the upper portion of a pair of trousers to the inside of which the device is attached. A fly of the usual formation is designated as l2 and the crotch as [3.
A protecting shield having segmental wing portions l4 and I5 connected by a narrower neck portion I6 is made up of two outer layers l1 and 18 of light weight fabric and holds between them a third sheet of impervious material [9 which may be of rubber or any other suitable impermeable substance.
Attachment to the inside crotch of the trousers (Figure 1) is made by stitching the shield along the edge of same as indicated by the dotted line 28 or by other suitable means. The particular shape of the said segmental Wing portions permits a maximum coverage at the crotch consistent with ease and comfort to the wearer.
It will be noted that the cut out portions 2| above the neck [6 and 22 below same provides a means whereby the shield will fold easily around the seams at the crotch to conform to the shape of the garment at that point.
The three layers I1, l8 and I9 are preferably sewn together by an overedge stitch 23, although any other form of stitch may be employed.
I claim:
A trouser protecting shield of impervious material adapted to be attached inside of and adjacent the crotch portion of the trousers, said shield comprising a pair of arcuate sections connected at their central portions to form a connecting Web, said web being of a length so as to extend from the bottom of the fly to the leg seams at the crotch of the trousers, the inner opposed edges of the arcuate sections forming upper and lower notches, the edges of the upper notch adapted to embrace the lower portion of the fly, the edges of the lower notch adapted to embrace the crotch portion, the length of said arcuate sections being such as to cause the shield to extend from the lower portion of the fly into the leg portions of the trousers below the crotch portion.
JACK PINCHOFF.
