Description
A. ISKE.
- Dumping-Wagon.
Patented July 12, 1859.
my a V v AM. PHOTD-LITHO. CO. N,Y. (OSBUINE'S PROCESS) UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANTHONI ISKE, OF LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA.
DUMPING-WAGON.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 24,741, dated July 12, 1859.
I '0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANTHONI IsKE, of the city and county of Lancaster, in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Dumping Vagons; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 shows the side and bottom of the partitioned box A, the drop door D, and hinges, the central cogged rack-bar C, the friction rollers I, in the grooves of the bottom frame of the box, the side catch-plates N, the lever bar E (attached at It) with its bolt-plate S, for retaining and disengaging the drop door D. This lever fits into and passes through a slot in the hind cross piece of the bottom of the box frame.
Fig. 2 shows the frame upon which the box operates, and can be used on the running gears of any ordinary wagon. The side pieces F are grooved from the front to center in which groove the rollers I, on the box A, move and are kept in place, on the rear end are the rollers H, which move in the grooves in the bottom of the box A (Fig. 1.) L, is a cogged spindle operated by a handle or windlass K, by means of which the box (by its ratchet bar 0,) is readily moved back and forward. G is a bent upright for retaining the box in place whenrun forward. M is a stay peg or pivot against which the catch plate N, with its notch to receive the peg comes, when the box is run back, and stays it, while it becomes the pivot of the dumping box.
Fig. 3 shows the position when the box is run back, the lever E drawn out, and the door D, down to discharge the rear part of the load.
Fig. 4, shows the end gate B, and partition A, removed, and the box dumped to discharge the balance or entire load, the stay plate N, hooked on to the peg M or plvot.
F ig. 5 is a perspective view of the box and frame mounted.
The operation is simple as its construction and readily understood by the above de. scription and drawings annexed. Its utility is apparent and cannot fail to recommend itself for various reasons easily surmised.
I am aware that various devices are in use, but I am not aware of any so combined, that it will drop part of a load, dump a whole load, and applicable to put upon and used on ordinary running gears, yet I do not claim any of its parts separately, though some may be novel.
hat I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- The drop door D, with its lever E, the partitioned box A, with its rack bar a, 011 the bottom, the handled spindle L, K, for moving the same, as specified, when these several parts are combined as and for the purpose set forth.
ANTHONI ISKE. lVitnesses S. G. MUSSER, JAooB STAUFFER.
