This invention relates to electric heating and drying devices and more particularly an electric heating and drying device for foot wear.

One of the objects of this invention resides in the provision of an electric heating and drying device adapted to be disposed in shoes, boots and similar foot wear to slowly and evenly Warm and dry the same without injury thereto by overheating the same.

Another object of this invention resides in the provision of an electric foot wear heating and drying device adapted to be used as a heat pad for treatment of body ailments.

A further object of this invention resides in an electric heating and drying device adapted to so warm leather ski boots that the pores of the leather thereof will open to permit penetration of oil therein to retain it in soft and pliable condition.

A. still further object of this invention resides in the provision of an electric heating and drying device adapted to be used in all sizes and types of foot wear from an infants to the largest mens sizes.

With these and other objects in view, this invention resides in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of elements to be hereinafter more particularly set forth in the specification, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claim and, although this disclosure depicts my present conception of the invention, the right is reserved to resort to such departures therefrom as come Within the spirit of the invention.

Fig. l is a plan view of the heating and drying device per se.

Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view through one of the heating pads taken approximately on line 2-2 of Fig. 1.

Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view taken approximately on line 3-3 of Fig. 1.

Fig. 4 is a diagrammatic view of the electric circuit of the device.

In the present illustration of this invention the numeral 5 designates, in eneral, an electric heating and drying device for all types of foot wear and consists of companion pads 6 enclosing coils 1 connected to electric wires 8 extending from One of their ends and united to an electric feed cord 9 having a plug l0 or other similar element on its free end to attach it to a house circuit (not shown) Electrically connected to each of the coils is a rheostat ll adapted to be set by the manufacturers of the device to regulate the flow of electricity to the coils and thereby cause them to develop heat at a predetermined rate such that the leather or other material from which boots, shoes and the like are made will be slowl heated and dried, it being within the purview of this invention to dispose the aforesaid regulating elements so they can be regulated by the user of the device.

Each of the aforesaid coils l is insulated by an asbestos cloth I2 or other similar element which is enclosed in a cloth covering l3. The aforesaid elements are enclosed in a removable elongated outer jacket 14 formed of water repellant material and having an elongated opening in one side thereof with its ends extending toward the opposite side thereof and closed by a Zipper fastener l5 or other suitable fastening element.

With this invention fully set forth, it is manifest that an electric heating and drying device is provided whereby a pair of boots, shoes and the like can be simultaneously treated and, through the simplicity of construction thereof, positive and safe operation of the same is assured.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:

A heating and drying device for foot wear comprising, an electric coil, an asbestos cloth enclosing the electric coil and insulating the convolutions thereof from one another, a cloth covering said asbestos cloth, a rheostat connected to the coil, an elongated water repellant jacket removably enclosing the aforesaid elements and having an elongated opening in one side thereof with its opposite ends extending inwardly toward the opposite side of the jacket, a zipper fastener closing said opening in the jacket, and an electric circuit connected to the coil.
