TARGET FOR BALL GAMES April 19, 1949.
` Filed Aug. 5, 1946 Patented Apr. 19, 1949 TARGET FOR BALL GAMES Roscoe F. Ely and Wilbur T. Ely, Spokane, Wash.

2 Claims.
Our present invention relates to an improved target for ball games and more particularly to a game employing a golf putter and ball to be used in conjunction with simulated bowling pins, the golf ball being stroked toward the simulated pins, the person receiving the highest score winning as determined by the accuracy of the stroke.
In the accompanying drawings we have illustrated one complete example of the physical embodiment of our invention according to the best mode we have thus far devised but it will be understood that various changes and alterations may be made in the exemplified structure within the scope of the appended claims.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention set up in position for operation.
Figure 2 is a front elevational view of the device.
Figure 3 is a section through one of the tube supported brushes taken on line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a side elevational View.
Figure 5 is a detail of the locking mechanism for supporting the V-shaped frame; and
Figure 6 is a detail of the rod which holds the frame in position.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, we have illustrated the present embodiment of our invention as comprising a V-frame composed of angle metal strips including the vertical legs 2 and 4, the bases 6 and 8; and the braces I0 and I2.
Converging forwardly of the frame, we provide a pair of supports I4 and I6 and a connector bar I8 is secured by wing nuts I9 on the rear of the supports.
The telescoping rods having hooks 22 engaging the bases 6 and 8 respectively carry the heavy weighted bar 24 to prevent forward tipping of the structure.
2 carry a lamp 46, the rays of which may be spotted at 4B on the oor or rug to afford a putting target usuable with or without the brushes as desired.
When not in use the bar 24 and the rods 20 may be removed from the bases and 8 and the converging supports I4 and I6 may be pivoted on hinge 52 to compactly fold the structure for storage,
The game as played with the structure set forth herein may take many variations and forms but in general the game embodies the stroke of golf with the putter and ball together with the brushes positioned as bowling pins and the counting of the score may be as in bowling with the necessary variations.
Having thus fully described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a ball game, a target comprising a pair of spaced triangular frames connected by a rear weighted bar, converging supports secured to and extending forwardly of the frames and having spaced openings forming sockets, tubes depending from the supports containing weighting disks and having upper balls seated in the sockets, and brushes extending downwardly from the depending tubes and spaced from the playing surface to wipingly engage a rolling ball.
2. In a ball game, a target comprising a pair of spaced triangular frames, a rear barrier connecting the frames to stop the balls passing between the spaced frames, converging, overhanging supports secured to and extending forwardly of the frames, said supports formed with one vertical and one horizontal wall, the horizontal wall formed with spaced openings, tubes depending from the supports and containing weighted disks, closure plugs for the tubes, pins in the plugs and balls on the ends of the pins in the openings, and brushes extending downwardly from the depending tubes and spaced from the playing surface to wipingly engage a rolling ball.
