6 Claims.
l This invention relates to improvements in amusement devices for children of that type known in the art as slides, and comprehends a structure capable of an arrangement of parts 2 the platform and rearwardly and downwardly to the supporting blocks I arranged on top of the platform I. The blocks I are bolted by means of bolts lo to the platform and are arrangedA at whereby the structure may be utilized as a duplex each side of the slide structure to permit a person slide or as a single slide in tunnel form. using the slide to retain hold of the same While One of the objects of the present invention is assuming position on the slide structure either in to construct a device of knock-down form to pertunnel or open duplex form. At the rear of the mit storage and convenient shipment and which platform I and connecting the upper ends of the can be quickly assembled or disassembled. rear legs 3 and the platform I is the elongated Another object of this invention is to provide channel structure 8, which extends along the rear a slide of tubular form divided into a pair of marginal edge of the platform I and is secured hinged symmetrical parts formed by longitudinal thereto by any suitable means which will permit division of the cylinder whereby when in opened it to be detachable from the platform I. A pair of position these parts may be supported to provide l5 spaced openings 9 for bolts lo are provided for adjacent duplex slide members. detachably securing the slide structure to the Another object of this invention is to provide channel 8. If desired this channel 8 may be persupporting means for the slide both in open and manently attached to the platform I. closed position and also the provision of steps to The slide is in the form of an elongated tubular facilitate the use of the device, the steps includ- 2o body bisected horizontally and longitudinally to ing structure for detachably supporting the eleperform the symmetrical lower and upper parts vated ends of the slide. The two sections of the Other features of the invention will morek cylindrical slide are hinged together at I4, and clearly hereinafter appear by reference to the acfor purposes 0f illustration the hinge barrel is companying drawings forming a part of the formed by curling adjacent longitudinal marginal specification and wherein like characters of refedges of the slide sections II and I2 in opposite erence designate corresponding parts throughout directions at spaced intervals to provide for the the several views, in whichreception of the pintle i6. By this arrange- The supporting structure for the amusement ment when the slide is in tubular or tunnel form device includes a platform I having spaced front only plate I'I is utilized in supporting the upper legs 2 and rear legs 3, these legs terminating at 45 end of the structure; however, when the slide their lower ends in relatively flat enlarged foot structure is opened to provide a duplex slide portions 4. The front legs 2 support steps 5 which then the upper plate I"I' will be received in the may be suitably spaced and may be of any form, channel and can be locked by the use of bolts either flat as illustrated or round if the latter extending through the openings 9. structure is preferable. Hand rails E are arranged The lower end of each section of the slide is at each side of the steps and extend from adjacent the base of the front legs 2 outwardly and up wardly so that the major portion of each hand rail is substantially parallel to its adjacent legs 2. The upper ends of each hand rail extend above provided with leg members I9 each being formed with sockets 20, as shown in Figure 6, for receiving the upper end of the removably adjustable leg section 2 I, the latter having the enlarged foot 22 and being locked in adjusted position by a hand screw or its equivalent 23. When the structure is in tunnel form, i. e., when the upper slide section overlies the lower slide section, the parts may be retained in place by pins or other forms of fastening 24, such elements 24 preventing lateral displacement of the edges of the slide and preventing the hinged parts from clattering during use.
While the present embodiment illustrates one form of the invention it will be obviousV to one skilled in the art that certain details of construction may be modified without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What I claim as new and useful and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In an amusement slide, said slide comprising a tubular body longitudinally bisected to form sections and hinged means for the sections to permit movement of the upper section to a position to form a second slide member.
2. In an amusement device, a tubular body formed of a pair of symmetrical longitudinal sections, said sections being hinged along one I" their adjacent marginal edges to permit opening of the tubular body to provide connected channel slideways, means for supporting the upper end of said sections in both open and closed position, and means for supporting the lower end of said sections.
3. In an amusement device, a tubular body formed of a pair of longitudinal sections, said sections being hinged along one of their adjacent marginal edges to permit opening of the tubular body to form connected upwardly faced channels, a supporting stand for one end of said device,
and fastening means for connecting each section of said slide to said supporting stand.
4. In an amusement slide comprising a tubular body formed of a pair of longitudinal sections, said sections being hinged together along one edge to permit opening of the tubular structure to provide a pair of spaced connected upwardly facing channel shaped slideways, means for supporting the upper end of said sections in both open and closed position, and means for securing said sections against lateral displacement when assembled in tubular form.
5. In an amusement slide, a tubular body formed of a pair of longitudinal sections, said sections being hinged together along one edge to permit the parts to be swung to open position to form connected open channel slides, a sup port for the upper end of said device, said support including a channel, and means fixed to the upper end of each section of said slide for engaging in said channel.
6. The substance of claim 5 characterized in that fastening means are provided for detachablv securing the slide sections in said channel.
