JOHN E. HAEE, 0E BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
GAS-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part pf Letters Patent No. 246,502, dated ugust 30, 1881.
Application ined June 10,1881. (No model.)
To 'all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN R. HABE, ofv th city of Baltimore, and State of Maryland, havev inren ted certain Improvements in Gas-Stoves, of which the following; is a specification.
This invention consists in providing a gasburner ot' the description usuallyemployed for heating and cooking purposes, with means for its suspension within the tire-box otan ordinary cooking stove or range, as hereinafter described.
In the further description of my said invention, which follows, reference Yis made to the accompanyingd rawings, forminga part hereof, and in Which- Figure I is a sectional View of a part ot' a range provided with a gasburner in accordance with my invention. Fig. II is a top view ofthe burner and its attachments.
Similar letters of reference indicate similar parts in both the views.
A represents the tire-box, and B the grate, of an ordinary cooking-range.
C is the Water-back, and D the door through which the coul is fed to the fire.
E is acooking utensil placed over one ofthe openings in the top ofthe range.
F is a gas-burner, ot' the heating kind, provided withdevices for suspending` it beneath the cooking utensil.
The means of suspension preferably consist of bars a', which project from the burner, and
at their upper ends are connected to a ring, b,
which is fitted to rest in any one of the stoveopenings, as shown.
The burner is adapted for connection to any gasltixture from which a supply of gas may be obtained, and with this view 1t is provided with a exihle tube, c, and stop-cock d;
The advantages of using a gasbnrner in connection with acooking stove or range are that the products of combination ofthe gas do not escape, as in the ordinary gas-stove, to the room' in which the stove is placed, but pass to the chimney through the stove-pipe and the various channels in the stove leading thereto.
Iclaim as my invention- 1. In combination with a cooking -stove or range having thereina tire-box and a grate adapted for burning coal, and passages to conduct the products of combustion from the said lire-box to a stove-pipe, a gas-burner with means, as described, for its suspension Within the said tire-box, and a iiexible gas-supply pipe or tube leading from the said burner to the exterior ct' the stove, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
2. In combination with a stove or range, the ring b, hars a, and gas-hurnerF, all arranged with reference tothe passages in the said stove leading to the stove-pipe, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
