This invention relates to a swing, and more especially to a swing constructed largely of wood, which is easily assembled, very sturdy, will stand hard usage, is casily adjustable au. to height from the ground, and also easily adjustable to accommodate children of various sizes.

It is an object of this invention to provide a swing in which the handle bars and the foot hais can be ladjusted vertically with relation to each other and having quickly adjustable takeup means.

It is another object of this invention to provide a swing having a handle bar and a toot bar and means joining the said bars together with a ses* member pivoted at one end to the means which join the handle bar and foot bar together, -together with a pair of suspending means secured above :he handle bar and a single suspension means secured to the tree end oi the seat member.

Some of the objects of the invention having been stated, other objects will appear as the description proceeds when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is an isometric view of the swing;

Figure 2 is an isometric view of a modied form of the swing;

Figure 3 is an edge view of Figure 2, omitting the seat and the bars to which the seat is attached;

Figure 4 is a cross sectional view taken through the oot bar and the vertical post and being taken near the lower end o1' Figure 2;

Figure 5 is an enlarged detailed view of the adjustable means shown in Figure 1.

Referring more specifically to the drawings, the numeral I0 indicates a foot bar in Figure l having uprising posts Il and I2, and to the upper end of these posts is suitably secured a handle bar i3. Suitable eye bolts i4 and i5 penetrate the outer ends o! the foot bar I0 and the handle bar i3 and suitable nuts (not shown) are disposed on the lower end of these bolts I4 and l5 for securing the two bars i0 and i2 together and binding them against the ends of the bars il and i2.

The upper ends of the bolts i4 and i5 have suitable eyes I1 and i8 therein in which suitable rings i9 and 20 are secured. and to these rings I9 and are secured cords 2i and 22. The cords' 2| and 22 pass upwardly each through a block 23 and outwardly along the exterior oi the block as at 24 and then transversely through the block as at 25, then upwardly and downwardly and being secured to the block as at 28. This forms a loop 2l in which a snap hook 28 is secured no that 2 the snap hook 28 can be secured to suitable eye bolts 29. which are secured ln a ceiling such as 30. There is also disposed a cord 32 which has am identical structure on its upper enclv and which structure bears like reference characters to that just described.

The lower end of this cord 32 is secured to an eye bolt 33 secured in the outer free end of a seat member 34 which is pivotally connected as by bolt 35 between the bars Il and i2. It will be noted that the bars ii and i2 have a plurality of holes such as 3'6 in which the bolt 35 can be positioned for adjusting the position of the seat member 34 vertically with relation to the main frame portion of the swing.

In Figure 2 a slightly modified form of the invention is shown in which there is a, handle bar and a foot bar 4|. The foot bar 4i has suitable notches therein which llt over one side of horizontally spaced

42 and 43 having a plurality of holes 44 therethrough for receiving a bolt 45 which penetrates one end of a. seat member 45, the other end of the seat member having riveted thereto a leaf spring member 41, in the outer end of which is an eye bolt 48 in which a ring 49 is mounted and in `this ring is secured a cord 50 whose upper end passes through a ring 5| and through another ring 52 and extends on upwardly through a ring 53 disposed in an eye bolt 54 secured in a ceiling 55.

The free end of the cord 50 is secured to the ring 52 and thus an easy takeup adjustment is provided. The same reference characters apply to the two cords 51 and 58 which have their lower ends secured through

59 and 60 which are disposed in the upper ends of eye bolts 6i and 62. These eye bolts have their lower ends threaded and are threadably mounted in tubular bolts 63, 84 which have a bolt 65 threaded into their lower ends which penetrate the foot bar 4I. The bar 4l is secured to the

42 and 43 by means of suitable U-bolts 66 and 81 as is clearly shown in Figure 4. These U-bolts are passed through the foot bar 4| and have each a plate 68 on their free ends with suitable nuts 69 and whereby the bar 4i can be securely clamped to the lower portions of the

42 and 43 and, thus, by adjusting the

6i, 63, 62, and 64 and securing the bar 4I in adjusted position, the overall height of the frame of the swing can be adjusted to different sizes of children, and the bolt 45 can be placed in any one of the holes 44 and thus, the vertical position of the swing seat 46 can be adjusted.

In the drawings and specification there has been set forth a preferred embodiment oi the invention, and although speciilc terms are employed, they are used in a generic and descriptive sense only, and not for purposes of limitation, the scope oi the invention being defined in the claim.

I claim:

A childs swing comprising a pair oi vertically disposed, spaced members, a handle bar secured to the upper ends of the spaced members, a foot bar secured to the lower portion ci the spaced members and being vertically adiustable relative to the spaced members, a pair of telescopic bolts penetrating the outer ends of the foot bar and the handle bar, the upper ends o! the telescopic bolts having eye members therein, a Pair oi cords secured to the upper ends of the telescopic bolts and having their other ends secured to a suitable support disposed thereabove, the vertically disposed spaced members having a plurality of holes therethrough for receivinii.r a bolt, a seat member having a hole through one end penetrated by said bolt for pivotaily mounting the seat member between the spaced vertically disposed members, the outer end of the seat member having a cord secured thereto, and means for supporting the upper end of the cord at a point above the seat member, said cord having quick takeup means therein comprising an annular member secured in the free end of the cord and through which an intermediate portion of the cord is passed and a second annular member surroundlnar the ilrst annular member and rest-inl against the cord.
