The present invention relates to a novel boat hoisting mechanism of a type particularly adapted for bodily lifting a boat from abody of Water in a manner to tilt the boat whereby it may be conveniently laundered and allwater may be drained from the inside thereof,
The primary object of the present invention is to devise a mechanism that facilitates rapid laundering and bailing of boats with a minimum amount of labor, particularly referring to such boats as light motor boats, row boats, punts, canoes and the likein boat liveries where it is necessary to handle a number of boats, the same being facilitated by bodily raising the boat'from a body of water and tilting thesame on its side so that the interior thereof may be conveniently washed such as by hoseand brush and all water drained therefrom. The present device is partially submerged in a bodyof water and the boat to be laundered is floated and brought to rest directly over the device which is then operated by fluid pressure to lift the boat bodily from the surface of the water and hold it in the tilted elevated position until the same has been laundered and until all water. is drained therefrom.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a boat hoisting and tipping mechanism including a frame that is adapted to be submerged in a body of water to support a pivoted cradle having a portion normally resting beneath the surface of the water so that a. boat may be floated and brought to rest directly above the same. A cylinder is pivotally attached to the cradle at a point remote from its pivot and a piston is mounted in the cylinder and provided with a connecting rod that is pivotally attached to the frame so that when fluid under pressure is introduced into the cylinder from any suitable pressure source, the cylinder and piston are moved in a manner to pivotally move the cradle. Upward pivotal movement of the cradle causes the same to come into contact with the bottom of the boat floating above and continued movement causes the boat to be lifted clear of the water and tipped on its side and when the boat is in the raised tipped position, the interior of the same may be conveniently washed and all water drained therefrom.
With the above and other ends in view, the invention consists in matters hereinafter set forth and more particularly pointed out in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawing in which:

The present device is preferably formed with a pair of spaced L-shapedendframe members I that are joined together atftheirbottoms by a rigid cross frame member 2. .A shaft 3 has its opposite ends secured adjacent the top of opposite' frame members and serves to assist the cross frame member 2 in rigidly securing the end frame members I togetherin a vertically extendposition, 1

The cradle is mounted within the supporting frame by' extending the shaft 3thi'ough "the tube 6 and in this manner the cradle is permitted to move pivotally.
A pair of spaced brackets l is securely mounted upon the bottom of the cross'member 5 on the cradle, the brackets being spaced a proper distance to receive an ear 8 that is mounted upon a cylinder 9. A pivot pin [0 is employed to secure the ear 8 between the brackets 1 and in this manner the cylinder 9 is pivotally supported by the cradle. A piston l I is slidably mounted in the cylinder 9 and is provided with a connecting rod I 2 that has its outer end pivotally secured between a pair of spaced brackets [3 that are rigidly mounted on the cross member 2 of the supporting frame.
Fluid under pressure is forced into the cylinder 9 through a hose or pipe [4 which is connected to any suitable compressor or source of pressure. The fluid exhausts from the cylinder through the hose or pipe line I 5 that is controlled by any suitable valve mechanism.

As a result of the pivotal connection between the cylinder and the cradle, outward movement of the cradle can only be when accompanied "by pivotal movement of the cradle. Movement of the cylinder longitudinally causes the cradle to move pivotally on its pivot rod 3 so that the horizontal portion of said cradle will be elevated above the surface of the water and thereby elevate the boat lBabove said water surface and position the same to drain any water therefrom which may have found its way into.

A boat hoisting and tipping device comprising an approximately L-shaped frame structure, an approximately L-shaped cradle structure pivotally connected thereto to swing upward therefrom, said frame and cradle structures having approximately horizontal portions arranged to be submerged in shallow water and approximately vertical portions extending upward therefrom, and a fluid pressure motor disposed approximatelyhorizontally between the horizontal portions of said frame and cradle structures in the lowered position thereof and having a cylinder member and a piston member, one of said members being pivotally connected to said frame structure and the other member being operatively connected to said cradle structure remote from the pivotal connection of said cradle structure to said frame structure, said members being pivotally connected respectively to said frame structure and said cradle structure adjacent the junctions of their horizontal and vertical portions.
