QUESTION' AND ANSWER RATING DEVICE Filed Dec.l 18, 1944 ozzzls MOSCOU@ atentecl ov. 2,
omiso sirai:li-:1sif2 ear-Nr@ Thisrfinvention"relates^ to 'a selective 'choice arnusern'ent'device,v and is more particularly describedfas'a rating guide for determiningthe J advisability of one course of action or another as, for example, in 'detf'armining thedesirability of a husband.y
Ari-importantobject of `the invention is in the provision of `a selective choice 'device by which it is possible to determinea rating 'dependent upon the choice exercised. :f
A further object of Vthe invention is to provide a selective game device having indications of a plurality ci choices relating to diierent subjectsk which are`- movable from a concealed or covered positionv to air openery observable position to the exclusionoi the subjects'for decision'.
A further objectof the-invention is to provide corresponding tabs having a numerical or gradedk value relating--to thexchc-icesrto lbe exercised` which are removable' to indicate the cho-ice; and in which the value is concealed until the choice is made.
Still a further object ofthe invention is to provide means for concealing'andfcovering,a-nurnerA ical indication 'of any-choice until-a selectionv is made and to insure-thatonlyione of the :tabs in-` dicating a selcctivechoiceis removedforiieach selection.
Still a further-object of thet'invention'isgto t* provide the information and method of :arriving at a determination ora selective `ratingi'in the* form or a covered game*o-rgbookletwhich contains the means for making a selectiontogether with the rating for any selection vmade and the directions or making/the 'selection and "utilizing r the rating therefrom.
Other objects of the invention will Aappearginv the speciiication and will 'be-apparentrrom the accompanyingrdrawing in which;
Fig. l is a perspective'of.'anfopen booklet-With parts broken away and'illustrating-the 'construcin l. in partially closed position? Fig, 3 is a fragmentary View ofthe'selective choicemovablev dialwithone of 'the tear'out stubs removed there-fromyand" Fig/4 illustrates a portion fof the.y back" which `v shows a tear out recess limited to the vsize-of oneV of thejrremovabie tabs or stubs;
This invention 'is described as Ya selective choice amusement -'device which is applied to thefdetermination 'fof the desirability. *of` -a prospect formarriagefbutfit mayfalso-be used fora similar' `T55 decision and a rating for 'the cumulative decisions in regardt'o many other questions, controversial* and otherwise. It might be for thedesirability of i' taking a trip to New York or oi selecting a farm or a dwelling house, and for rating the determi'- nati'onof'many other selective choice questions". either serious or only'f'or amusement purposes.'
Referring now more particularly to the draw`` ings, a selective choice dial G is mounted for rotation between a front sheet l and a back sheetA Ei oi a folder, comprising a cover vsheet 9 which maybe an extension of tlie back sheet preferably fol'ding over all of thefront'sheet and having a window 5 adjacent the top which may expose an. indication' il? of the nature or contents ofthe folderwhen the cover is closed. Secured to the selective'dial at the vcenter thereof is a knob Ii which may be fiat and enclosed'by the cover or it may be in the form of a knob as shown which projects through a hole i2 in the cover.
The dial is rotated freely by the central knob` to move the edge relative to a sector opening vI3 l extending fromu the center ci thel dial in .the y' cuterA sheet but terminating at a distance from the outer edgeof the dial and from the outer` edge of the sheet. In the remaining outer edge of the s heet is a, segmental notch it separated;
from the opening i3 by ac overing bridge i5.' The` upper -face of the dial is separated by lines-into a number of narrow sectors i6 disposed close to` gether and two or more sectors being similarly co-loredand-usually similarly designated by num` bers or characters i? located atvthe outer end of the sector."
The outer extremity of each Ysector is sepa-1- rated from the adjacent ones by cuts I8 and the cuts for each'sector are'joined 'by partial severing x cuts or p erforations 2Q at a distance from-the j outer end of the sector equal to that of the outer radius of the opening i3, so that the indicating(h character, i? will appear in the-segmental notch lf3 as thedisc is rotated and when the'sector `is f linedy up with this notch It. At the inner endVUV of each removable tab or stub 2i thus formed and Tf denedisa designating numeral 2t corresponding to that stub and to a question or direction 23 on the respective sector il; This designating j number is located injpcsition to Abe'ccwered 'bym' the bridge i5 las the' disc is rotatedso that the number;designatingv the ratingjcannot be seen unless the stublog tab lisn removed.
In the. beek .Sheet S corresponding to the sizeof each Aoir-the tabs or fro-ntfcover4 sheet'and together exposing botrra segmental notch 2li its sector, a front cover having an opening to uncover one related group, a notch in the edge of the cover separated from the opening by a covering bridge, a back cover having a notch' in its edge corresponding in location to the front cover notch and larger than the front notch by the area of the corresponding bridge, each tab having a rating designation thereon covered by the bridge.
8. .A selective question and answer device, comprising a lcircular rotatable disc having separate space sectors arranged in designated groups of related subject matter, each sector having a partially severed end tab free at its sides, a front cover in Which the disc is rotatable having a sight sector opening to uncover one related group, a segmental notch at the edge of the cover spaced from the opening by a covering bridge, a rating designation on each tab covered by the bridge, a back cover having a segmental notch as large as each tab and registering with the front cover notch.
9i A selective question and answer device, com- 6 prising a rotatable member having a projecting central knob, a front cover in which the member is rotatable with the knob extending therefrom, selective space portions on the member and corresponding tabs removable therefrom to identify the space portion selected, means on the cover to facilitate removal of the selected tabs, an opening in the cover to uncover a group of the said space portions, and a flap hinged to the cover to overlie it having an opening to engage the said knob in closed position and to hold the ap over the face of the cover.
