The present invention relates to ski bindings, particularly the invention has for its object to provide means whereby the mounting and packing of a certain type of ski bindings will be facilitated.

The type of ski bindings with which the invention is concerned is that type which conventionally comprises two separate angularly shaped side irons, one leg of which is adapted to rest against the top of the ski, and the other leg of which is supposed to form a support for the outside edges of the sole of the shoe, and furthermore a cover plate and possibly also a mounting plate, the mounting plate being adapted to be attached to the ski, forming a rest for the legs of the side irons, while the cover plate is adapted to rest on top of the side irons and is provided with holes adapted to receive screws to lock the assembly accurately to the ski.

One will easily understand that when these different parts are to be mounted on the ski in a certain position in order to fit the particular shoe which is to be used, there are several loose parts which have to be positioned correctly and held in such position until the whole assembly is locked in place by means of the said screws.

The mounting of such ski bindings is therefore rather complicated and time-wasting and the prime object of this invention is by simple means to facilitate the mounting of ski bindings, According to the present invention this is accomplished by means of certain arrangements on the underside of the cover plate adapted to loosely hold the side irons in relation to the cover plate. The arrangement also holds the various parts together as a unit when not mounted on the ski. By this construction adjustment of the side irons sideways, in relation to the longitudinal axis of the cover plate, is possible for different width shoes as also the angular adjustment of the side irons for correctly aligning the side irons to the shoe edges.

For this purpose the invention consists in a number of spring hooks, attached to the underside of the cover plate and adapted to grip over edges of the bottom leg of the side irons in such a way that the side irons and the cover plate are loosely fastened together.

In order that the invention may be easily understood, it shall in the following be described 2 with reference to th drawing, giving an example of the invention.

In the drawing, I denotes the ski, 2 the mounting plate attached to the same, 3 and 4 the vertical legs of the side irons, 5 and 6 the horizontal legs of the same, I the cover plate, 8 and 9 screws adapted to lock the parts together and to fasten the same to the ski.

In the legs 5 and 6 of the side irons there are, in the embodiment shown in the drawing, arranged apertures I0, I l for the purpose of allowing the locking of the side iron securely in place between the mounting plate 2 and the cover plate I when the parts are screwed together with screw means, These means are no part of this invention, and any further description of such means is unnecessary as these are well known in the art.

By means of this spring member, the side irons are securely, but slidably attached to the cover plate in such a way that the three parts, the cover plate and the two side irons may be mounted together and packed together, and further be placed on the ski as one unit before the correct position of the side irons has been determined. After the screws 8 and 9 have been placed through the assembly and drawn into the ski l, but before they have been drawn too tight, the side irons may be regulated to the desired width and angular position, whereafter the screws 8 and 9 may be used for securing the parts together in locked position.
