'I'his invenI-lon rela.tes to improvements in burglar alarms.
The object .of the invenbion is to give a warning if a window 15 opened, or opened beyond a desired amount.
One of the advantages of the invention is the provision of a simple burglar alarm system whlch ca.n be opera;ted =by almost; anybody.
According to the principle of my invention, I place a push button, connected 130 an electric circuit, on a. window.
Also plaoed on a window, is a devlce for pushing the button.
The push button is preferably pla.ced on the tp of the lower window on the inside, and the pughing means is located preferably on the upper window on Ruhe inside.
If the bottom window is opened, the push button will be pushed upwardly against Ehe pushin'g device.
If the upper wlndow is opened, then -the pushing device will be =pushed down against the push but'on.
The circuit may ring a hell or buzzer, or the like.
The push button or the actuating mean-s, or both, may easily be tanken 0ut of operative posi- I;ion and lefit inoperatiVe, so -that the windows may be opened fully, if desired.
Another object and advanbage is the provision of the foregoing Ioy meang whioh are simple to make and operate.
Other objects and -aclvantages will appear and be bnought out more fully in the following specification, reference being had 1:0 the accompany- Ing drawing, in which the figure is a perspective view of the burglar a1arm device applied I;o a. window.
Referring to the dra.wing in detail, in which I have shown the preferred form for the pulpose of illustrating Ishe principle of my invention I have shown operating meang in -the form of a push button III, having wires I I leading to a typioal alarm or hell arrangement I2, having the usual magnet, interrupter and battery or other source of electrical power.
The push -button may be mounted in a suitable platze, for example, on the top of the lower window at the side.
I have also provided pushing means I;o depress the button I0 in I:he form of an axctuator, or fingar, or strip I3, which may be made integral with, welded -to er stamped from a. plate I4, which is adapted to slide in a. holder I5 havlng flange I5a.
The holder may be secured I:o a window Ioy screWs or o:therwise as showh. In this way the plat;e I4 ma.y be removed when lt is desired co open the window further without ringing the hell.
The holder 15 also may be pr.ovided ao a. suita.b1e place on I;he upper window, preferably on the side frame, so th-at the actuator will project out in position to push the push button.
The place where the holder I5 is located determines the amount to which the window can be raised wlthout ringing the hell.
The plate I4 is preferably flas, so that lt Will 1ie flush against the holder I5, so tha the actuator I3 will -be in position bo depress the button.
The bu'tton III may be positioned in a clamp I6, or may be removed and allowed I;o bang loosely.
The clamp may consist of a horizontal strlp I'I adapted to be screwed o1 otherwise connected so a. window. The strip may have spring flanges I8 I;o press ag-ainst the push button II).
Beads I9 may also be provided ro provide downward ;pressure on the push button II), as will be readily understood by those skllled in the art.
It is believed that the foregoing wil1 describe my invention without further explanation to I;hose skilled in the art.
While I have illustrated and described I;he preferred form of construction for earrying my invention inI;o effeot, thi5 is cap-able cf variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to -be limi-ted to the preclse details 01 construction set forth, bu=t desire Io avail myself of such variation and modiflcations a s come wlthin the scope of the appended claims.
Havlng thus described my invention, wha-t I claim as new anal desire to secure by Letters PatenI; is:
1. In mechanism of the charaoter described, the oombination wlth relatively movable Support- Ing membem; of push button switch means carriecl by one of said members; aotuating means carried. by the o=ther of said members, am! including a. flat projection adapted to engage said push butoon swibch flacwise, said projection being carried by a supporting plate; and a bracket fixed said other member and having means for detachably accommodating said plabe upon movement thereof in a direotlon edgewise of said projection.
2. In a swltch mechanism the combination with a window frame; of two window sashes mounted in said frame, movable in parallel pl-anes with respect I:o each other, am]. with respect to said frame; a, braacket; carried by one of said sashes,
and c1ear of the other -of sa.id sashes when the 1a1tter is moved; a, push-button switch, detachably carrled by said bracket, haVing .a push buuton yieldably presented in a. dire'ction substantially co-incident; with nahe plane of movement of the sash upon which it is mounted, sa.id push button haVing a, condu-ctor cable connected thereto ancl permibting limited movement cf said push-bubton switch; a secondbvepcket carried by the dahe -f said sashzs r1orma11y clear of sa;id fii-"St moVin* sash when the 1a.tter is moved; an'd actuating means, detachably carried by said second bracket, extending substantially ad: right angles 1;o the plane of movement thereof overlying seid push button, and adapted upon limit;ed movemant cf either of said window sashes with re spgct to each other to push or to release sald p'ush b1itt0ti, de pending upon the direution of movement of said sashes; sa.id push blltb0lfl sW1th and said aetuaat- Ing means be1g quickly detachable fl1om their regpective bra.ckets to free said window sashes for fu1l movement relatively so each other and re1a;t;ively bo said fr-ame.
