A developed view of the blank from whichthe collar holding clasp is bent is illustrated in Fig. 4. It will be noted that the back bar portion Il, the front bar portion I2, and the narrow side support portion I3 are of integral formation and the loop portions I4 and |40 continue from the ends of the front bar portion I2 requiring merely that the blank I0 be slightly bent to the position shown in Fig. 1.
In the modification of the invention shown in Fig. 5 the construction of the collar holding clasp is similar to that previously illustrated except for the formation of the loop portions I4' and |40. In this form of the `invention the loop portions are bent into a rounded configuration.
In other respects this form of the invention is similar to that previously shown and like reference numerals identify like parts in each of the several views.
In Figs. 6 to 8 the construction of the collar holding clasp is similar to that previously described, except for the provision of a means for holding the loop-like clamp portion |40" in Various adjusted positions for controlling the resiliency with which these loop portions will engage the inside faces ofthe back bar portion In this form 'fof the invention the free ends of the loop-like clamp portions |40" are provided with projecting prongs |5 and |50 which are selectively engageable with complementary apertures I6 and |60 formed in the front bar portionl |2. The prongs I5 and |50 may be engaged with any one of the projections I6 and |60 for controlling the shape of the clamp portions I4 and |40 and extending their shape with relation to the front bar portion I2 to bear more rigidly againsit the adjacent face of the back bar portion v With the construction sh'own in Figs. 6 to 8, if the claspV fails to properly grip the points of a collarit is merely necessary vto adjust the shape of the clamp-like portions I4` to bear more rig- `idly against the adjacent face of the back bar portion I; In other respects this form of the invention is similar to that previously shown and similar reference numerals identify like parts in each of the several views.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred'embodiments of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reservedto all changes `and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as dened in the appended claims. n
`Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new,` and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
1. AA collar" holding clasp, comprising a resilient sheet having aback bar portion for extending across the back faces of the points of a collar, 'a front bar portion for extending across the 4 extending along the back faces of the points of a collar, a, narrow side support portion continuing from one side of said back bar portion and bent at right angles thereto, a front bar portion continuing from said side support portion and bent at right thereto to extend parallel to said back bar portion and along the front faces of the points of said collar, loop-like clamp portions continuing from the ends of said front bar portions and cooperating with-the end portions of said back bar portion to clamp the points of said collar in position between said bar position, and means for preventing the free edge portions of said bar portions from being bent towards each other, comprising lug portions formed onthe free edge portions of said bar portions, and bent. towards each other, each of said lug portions being equal in length to one half the length of said `support portion to contact each other when bent at right angles to their respective bar portions and towards each other. f i

A collar holding clasp formed of a single piece of metal comprising a back bar portion for extending along the back faces of the points civ a` collar, a narrow side support' portion continuingV from one side of said back bar portion and bent at right angles thereto, a front bar portion con-`-r Y tinuing fromv said side support portion land bent at right angles thereto to extend parallel to said back bar portion and along the front faces of the points of said collar, loop-like clamp portions continuing from the ends of said front bar portions and `cooperating with the end portions of y said back bar portion vto clamp the points of said collar in position between said bar positions, and prongs on the free ends of vsaid loop-like clamp`- portions selectively engageabley with one of a plurality of complementary openings formed in' the ends of said front bar portion for holding said clamp portions in desired adjusted positions.
