This invention relates to improvements in stool attachments for barbers chairs by means of which the barber may be seated while rendering tonsorial service to the occupant of the barbers chair. I v

Referring more in detail to the drawings the reference numeral l0 designates a conventional barbers chair having the pedestal I2 enlarged base Hi the vertically adjustable standard IS on the upper end of which is positioned the seat iii of the barbers chair having the usual adjustable back hinged to the seat 18 arm rests 22 and the members 24 carrying the foot rests 26 and 28 respectively.

The attachment embodying the present invention comprises the

semi-circular channel sections

30 and 32 respectively in which rollers 34 are rotatably mounted by means of vertically disposed bolts 36. The ends of the

sections

30 and 32 are bent outwardly as shown in Figure 3 at 31 to receive the bolts 38 on which are mounted springs 40. Thus the sections can be adjusted to fit pedestals of various sizes and by tightening of the nuts 42 on bolt-s 38 the sections can be maintained in close yet movable contact with the pedestal through the medium of the rollers 34.

5 Claims. (C1. 155'-81) Caps or housings 44 are positioned over the meeting ends of the sections and when the bolts 46 are tightened, the top and bottom projecting sides of the box overlying the sections are compressed to grip the outer surfaces of the sections,-

so that the housings are retained in place by the bolts 46. This protects the user of the chairfrom coming in contact with" the ends of the bolts. 36.

At the center of the sections between theirends and in opposed relation to each other sockets 48 are provided to receive the parallel aligned arms to of the chassis 52 and set screws 54 in the sockets 48 retain the arms in fixed relation to the sockets.

The arms 5c are received at their opposite ends in the Y couplings 56 having the legs 58 connected thereto and extending at a forty-five degree angle therefrom on which are mounted the caster wheels 66 which contact the periphery of the base [4. Extending rearwardly from the couplings 56 in parallel relation with each other are the members 62 which are connected at their 01 posite ends to elbows 64 which are connected to a T-coupling 66 by means of short member-s 68. Extending downwardly from the coupling 66 is a leg Ill having a caster wheel 12 on the lower end thereof and a brace rod 14 connects the coupling 16 of the caster wheel 12 to the member 1% binding the couplings of the caster wheels 60.

If desired two caster wheels can be used to replace caster wheel 12 and the assembly would be similar to the arrangement for the caster wheels 50. Adjacent the sockets 48 the arms 56 are provided with rubber foot rests 82.

A stool 84 having the adjustable seat 86 is mounted on a platform 88 which by means of members 96 is mounted on the arm 56 and members 62 and the member-s 90 are provided with transverse bolt shafts 92 to support rollers 64 in contact with the upper and lower surfaces of the arms 50 and members 62 thusthe platform can be moved away from or toward the barbers chair as desired by the occupant of the stool 84. The platform is provided with the depending marginal flange 96 and the stool 84 is secured to the upper surface of the platform 88 by bolt 98 and the members 96 are secured to the undersurface of the platform 68 by bolt I06.

When the operator is at work he may move the chassis 52 around the chair l0 as he desires while seated or he may move it out of his Way while standing. The caster wheels 60 being in contact with the base at all times the chassis will remain at a fixed relation thereto but by means of the movable platform 88, the operator may move himself toward or away from the occupant of the chair I El and he can either place his feet on the rests 82 or he can place his feet on the platform as he desires.

It is believed that .the operation and advancases of the attachment will be apparent to those skilled in the art and it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction, arrangement and. combinationof parts maybe resorted to provided they fall within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described the invention what is claimed as new and desired to besecured byLet ters Patent is:

1. A device of the character described for use with a, barbers chair comprising an annulus surrounding the pedestal base of, the chair; rollers:

mounted in said annulus, sockets on said annulus receiving arms of a chassis, movable with-relation'-- to said chair by means of caster wheels, a platform movably mounted on said chassis and a stool supported by said platfonn.

2; The-invention as in claim 1 wherein. said annulus is sectional, means is provided for adjus-tab'ly connectingthe-sections to each other and means is provided for housing said connecting means.

3.
