. In Sweden February 10, 1945 p This invention relates to plate shearing -machines of the kindcomprisinga bearing-frame 'substantially-intheform of a horizontally disposed U, carrying at theextremityof its -upper lega vertically reciprocating holder fora cutting Z tool adapted-to co-operate with a vcutting tool mounted at the extremity of the lower leg. The invention further relates to machinesof the above type in which an electric motor ismounted on-the top leg. of the frame with .its rotary axis sub stantially horizontal, .saidmotor driving a'connecting rod through an eccentric device, and said connecting rod aimparting. the necessary reciprocation to the tool through a suitable link system.
The inventionhas for-.its primary object ,the
provision of a shearing machine of-thetype above referred to in which the tool holder may quickly and easily be raised so as to permit the ready insertion between the tools of the plateto be treated. The invention also has-forits object to bring about various other adjustmentsaswill hereinafter appear.
Briefly stated, the objects of the invention are met by mountingthe cutting tool operatingmoe tor of, the plate shearingwmachine withits axis ofrotation parallel to a plane intermediate of the upper and, lower leg of the machine frame and upon a member which is rotatablymounted eccentrically in relation to said axis of the motor for angular adjustment thereof. Thus by turning the motor fc'arryinglrneiiiberithrough various angles as, will be more fully described-hereinafter the tool holder can be raised, for the insertion of the plate to be treated between the cutting tools or the length of the stroke of the tool holder and the tool varied.
Further, the motor has a connecting rod eccentrically connectd to the shaft thereof for being reciproc'ated and operating one of the cutting tools through a linkage system. Thus by selecting various angular positions of the motor carrying member the movement of the tool for each rotation of the motor shaft can be changed to obtain a double, cutting stroke, two equal double strokes, two unequal double strokes or one double stroke, but with the tools spaced apart for the insertion of a plate therebetween.
In the accompanying drawings an embodiment of the invention is shown by way of example, and in said drawings:
Figure l is a side view of a plate shearing machine according. to the invention;
Figure 2 an end view of the machine;
Figure 3 a top view of the same;
Figure 4 is an enlarged vertical section through 2 Claims. (Cl. 16447) the driving mechanism of the machine along the line IVIV of Figure 2; Figure 5 is 'a' front view of Figure 4 as seen in the direction of the arrows V-V in Figure 3 and is partly insection to show details thereof,
Figures 6, '7, 8 and9 are sidediagrammatic views of the =cutting tool driving members in various working-positions thereof with the eccentrically mounted members incross section; Figures 6a, 7a, 8a and 9a are front elevations of the eccentrically mounted members in various-posttions corresponding to Figures -6,- '7, 8, and 9,
respectively. 7
' The frame of themachine is formed by a ver-' tical flatbox I having the'shape ofa horizontally disposed U, the top leg of which is designated by the numeral 2 and the lower leg by 3. The horizontal space between the legs 2 and 3 is designated by 4. At the extremity of the top leg 2 of the frame there is fixed a box-shaped housing 6 having at its top a cylindrical portion 5. The open front side of the housing'fi is covered by a removable plate'l. In 'an annular recess '8 at the one end of said cylindrical portion 5, the geometrical center line of which is horizontal andpositioned in the middle plane of the frame, there is rotatably mounted a ring 9 which is kept in the recess 8 by means of a ring I 0 fixed to the end edge" of the cylindrical portion 5. To said rotatably mounted ring 9 the flange H of an electric motor I2 is fixed in such a manner that the motor shaft I3, which projects into the eylin drical portion 5 and whichis parallel to the geometrical axis of said cylindrical p.0rtion5, is eccentric'ally disposed in: relation to the axis of revolution of the motor carrying ring 9; On the motor shaft [3 there is fixed a fly wheel U! the hub of which is formed as an feccentriclli on which the "ringshapeden d ll of a connectin rod 58 is journalled by means of a ball bearing 16. The other forked end I9 of the connecting rod I8 is connected by means of a unitaken versal joint l9a, l9b to the laterally project 33 and in the wall of the cylindrical housing portion 5 there is radially slidable a pin 35 actuated by a spring 34 and adapted to co-opera tewith said recesses 33 so as to retain the *IIlOlJOI? carrying ring 9 in different positions. I The recesses 33 and the inner end of the 'pin 35 "co-bprating with said recesses are so formed that at aturning stress of a certain degree on the ring -9the pin 35 is automaticallyjbrought out of engagement withthe recesses 33.-so-that.-the ringrli can be turned.
It will be appreciated that by turning the ring 9 by means of the hand lever :32 to the position shown :in Fig.0 by :reason of theeccentrici-tyof the axis of revolution of the ring 9 in relation to the motor shaft.l-3, theilever 2! 'will Ice-swung in such'a manner thatthe-tool holder 28 raises the tool-Z9 from the tools-iii, soas to enablethe plate to becut to he:insertedbetween'the tools ifzthe cutting of-theplate is to be begun at a distance from the edge of the plate. The .eccentr-icity of the axis of revolutionwof thering't in relation'tothe axis of rotation of themotor and the eccentricity-of the ring-shaped portion I! of the connecting rod '18 :injrelatidn to the motor shaft [3 are sochosenin relatio'nto each other and to the link system 2|, 2'5 transmitting the movements of the connecting rod I8 tothe tool holder 28 that as the motor 'carryingring 2 occupies the-position Iasshownin Fig. 6 which is a'turn of about 135 for hand leverl32'an'd ring 9 from the positionshow'n in Fig. 9 the Ievrts, when the motor is working, has imparted to it a swinging movement between the 'two end 130- sitionss'how'n by do'tted'li'nes in Eigurefi and positioned 'o'n-e'ach side 'oithe middle, position occupied by the lever 2'l in'Figure 'Inlsucha position 'of'the'ring Bthe toolholder .lfl'willfofeach revolution of 'the motorhav'e imparted to it two consecutive double strokes of a cornparatively shorft'length. In the position l of the "inotbr carryiiig rings as sh'own"in;Fig."7, whichjis "a'turn of about l'5'for,leve'r 32 and ring from the position shown in Fig.6, .thelever 2i will have imparted 'to'it a swinging movement between the two end 1positionsfshown by 'dotted lines in Fig- 'u're 7, wherebyfthetool holder 2-8 wi1lfor each revolutionof the'motor have imparte'dtofit only onedouble stroke. Ainovernen't 'of1ever 32 and rlnget'o-th'e position shown in' Fig,-'8'which is a turn of about 60 from the position of Fig. 6 will cause the tool holder 28 to be given two unequal double strokes per revolution of the motor shaft l3. By choosing the one or the other of these positions of the ring 9 or a position therebetween the movements of the tool 29 may be adjusted according to the nature of the plate to be cut by the machine.
.Th'e ring 'fi i'sh'eld at the various; positions from 10 thatshOWnin Fi'g. 6 totheposition'of Fig. 9 and intermediate points by the pin 35 being inserted by spring 34 into the appropriate recess 33 for each.position whereby the machine will operate with the type of stroke selected until changed WhatI claim is:
