It is an object of my present invention to provide a heat-actuated oscillating motor which is reliable in operation and nevertheless simple in construction.
It is furthermore an object of my present invention to provide a heat-actuated oscillating motor by which it is possible to obtain an oscillatory movement of low frequency.
The novel features which I consider as characteristic for my invention are set forth in particular in the appended claims. The invention itself, however, both as to its construction and its method of operation, together with additional objects and advantages thereof, will be best understood from the following description of specific embodiments when read in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:

My new heat-actuated oscillating motor comprises in combination a stationary support a, a turnable supporting frame e, a first closed container R1 and a second closed. container R2 mounted on the turnable support e spaced from each other, and horizontal pivoting means 9 secured to the turnable support e at a point between the closed containers R1 and R2 so as to enable free turning of the turnable support e in direction of arrow 1 between two end positions in one of which the first closed container R1 is in a lower position supported by abutment B1 and the second closed container R2 is in a higher position and in the other of which the first closed container R1 is in a higher position and the second closed container R2 in a lower position supported by abutment B2.
Furthermore, my new heat-actuated oscillating motor includes two compartments in each of the closed containers R1 and R2 arranged so as to extend vertically adjacent to each other when the respective closed container is in the above defined lower position; each of these compartments has in such lower position an upper end and a bottom end. These compartments in the closed container R1 are designated by the reference numerals 71.1 and. i1 and the corresponding compartments in the closed container R2 are designated with the reference numerals hz and i2, respectively.
The compartments in and ii in the closed container R1 are connected at their upper ends by a passage in, while the compartments h2 and i2 in the closed container R2 are connected at their upper ends by the passage 102.
Furthermore, the conduit 25 is arranged so as to connect the bottom end of the compartment hz with the bottom end of the compartment hl, as clearly shown in the drawing.
As also clearly shown in the drawing, the containers and. the compartments within the same are partly filled with liquid m.
Furthermore, I provide a heating coil 81 connecting the bottom ends of the compartments i1 and In and the heating coil s2 connecting the bottom ends of the compartments i2 and In as shown.
It should be mentioned that the preferably cir cular wall 01 enclosing the compartment 2'1 and the preferably circular Wall 02 enclosing the compartment i2 are preferably made of insulating material.
It should also be mentioned that the tube portion 121 of the heating coil 81 and the tube portion 122 of the heating coil .92 are preferably enclosed in heat insulating blocks d1 and d2, respectively, which not only serve as insulating means but also contact the abutments B1 and B2, respectively, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawing.
Finally, I wish to note that my oscillating motor includes a heating arrangement comprising the heating members S1 and S2. The heating member S1 is arranged so as to heat the heating coil s1 when the closed container R1 is in its lower position and the heating member S2 is arranged so as to heat the heating coil 82 when the closed container R2 is in its lower position.
In order to enable introduction-and removal of the -fiuid m into and from the closed containers, I provide the spigots P1 and P2 in the walls of the containers R1 and R2, respectively.
It should be stressed that in order to enable adjustment of the oscillation periods of the entire motor, I provide the weight system M and M slidably mounted on the rod F secured to the frame e by sliding of which it is possible to adjust the time needed for the entire system to turn from one of its end positions into the other.
My motor operates as follows: Y
At the start of operation, the motor is in the position shown in Fig. 1 with the liquid reaching to the level I indicated in the container R2 and to the level 1' indicated in the container R1. Due to heating of the liquid in the heating coil s2 by means of the heating member S2, this liquid will vaporize and the formed vapors will ascend in the compartment 2'2, pass through the passage 702 and exert pressure upon the surface of the liquid m in the compartment hz. This pressure will force the liquid m in the compartment hz through the open end of the conduit t into the same and through this conduit into the closed container R1 which it will fill slowly.
It should be noted that due to the heat insulating block dz the gases will not escape through the tube portion b2, but this tube portion will only serve for admission of cold liquid.
After a certain period of time of heating of coil 32 by flame S2, enough liquid will have passed through the conduit t into the closed container R1 to force the same to turn about pivot g into the other end position of the motor in whichthe closed container R1 is in its lower position with the heating coil s1 located above the heating member S1.
This will occur the moment the liquid level in theclosed container R2 has dropped to the level indicated by II and the level of the liquid in container R1 has reached the level II.

This oscillating to froturning movement is automatically and indefinitely continued as long as the heating member's operate I wish to note that it is advisable to use as liquid a fluid which is saturated with gas at room temperature and "at atmospheric pressure thereby decreasing the a'rhount 'o'f heating necessary to obtain evaporation or the liquid.
I have found that liquids containing ammonia are particularly adapted for the pur oses of the present invention.

While I have illustrated described the invention as embodied in heat actuated oscillating motor, I do not intend to be limited to the details shown, "since var ous incdifications and structural changes may be made without departing in any way from the spirit cf my invention.
7 Without further analysi's, 'the foregoing will so fully reveal the gist c'f my invention that others can by a plying current knowledge readily adapt it for various applications without omitting 'fea'- tures that, from the standpoint of prior art, fairly constitute essential characteristics of the generic or specific aspects of this invention, and, therefore, such adaptations should and are intended to be comprehended within the meanin and range of equivalence ofth'e following claims.

A heat actuated oscillating motor comprising in combination a stationary support; a turnable support; a first and second closed container mounted on said turnable support spaced from each other; horizontal pivoting means securing said turnable support at a point between said closed containers freely turnably to said stationary support so as to enable free turning of said turnable support between two end positions in one of which said first closed container is in a lower position and said second closed container in a higher position and in the other of which said first closed container is in a higher position and said second closed container in a lower position; stationary stop means arranged so as to prevent turning of said turnable support together with said closed containers beyond said end positions; two compartments in each of said closed containers arranged so as to extend vertically adjacent to each other when said closed container is in said lower position, each of said compartments having in such position an upper end and a bottom end; a passage in each of said closed containers connecting said compartments at said upper ends with each other; a conduit connecting said bottom end of one compartment of said first closed container with said bottom end of one of said compartments of said second closed container; heat insulating means at least partly enclosing the other compartments in said closed containers which are not connected with each other by said conduit; a liquid which is saturated with gas at room temperature and at atmospheric pressure, said liquid partially filling all said compartments in said closed containers; a first heating device arranged so as to be adapted to heat said bottom end of the other compartment of said first closed container when said turnable support together with said closed containers is in that end position in which said first container is in said lower position; and a second heating device arranged so as to be adapted to heat said bottom end of the other compartment of said second closed container when said turnable support together with said closed containers is in that end position in which said second container is in said lower position.

A heat actuated oscillating motor comprising in combinatiQn a stationary support; a turnable support; a first and a second closed container mounted on said turnable support spaced from each other; horizontal pivoting means securing said turnable support at a point between said closed containers freely turnably to said stationary support so as to enable free turning of said turnable support between two end positions in one of which said first closed container is in a higher position and said second closed container in a lower position; a weight member adjustably mounted on said turnable support so as to be adapted to be adjusted relative to said turnable support and thereby vary the distribution of weight of the same relative to said horizontal pivoting means; two compartments in each of said closed containers arranged so as to extend vertically adjacent to each other when said closed container is in said lower position, each of said compartments having in such position an upper end and a bottom end; a passage in each of said closed containers connecting said compartments at said upper ends with each other; a conduit connecting said bottom end of one compartment of said second closed container; a liquid partially filling all said compartments in said closed containers; and a heating arrangement arranged so as to be adapted to heat said bottom end of the other compartment of said first closed container when said turnable support together with said closed containers is in that end position in which said first container is in said lower position and to heat said bottom end of the other compartment of said second container when said turnable support together with said closed containers in that end position in which said second container is in said lower position.

A heat actuated oscillating mot'or comprising in combination a stationary support; a turnable support; a first and a second closed container mounted on said turnable support spaced from each other; horizontal pivoting means securing said turnable support at a point between said closed containers freely turnably to said stationary support so as to enable free turning of said turnable support between two end positions in one of which said first closed container is in a higher position and said second closed container in a lower position; a weight member adjustably mounted on said turnable support so as to be adapted to be adjusted relative to said turnable support and thereby vary the distribution of weight of the same relative to said horizontal pivoting means; stationary stop means arranged so as to prevent turning of said turnable support together with said closed containers beyond said end positions; two compartments in each of said closed containers arranged so as to extend vertically adjacent to each other when said closed container is in said lower position, each of said compartments having in such position an upper end and a bottom end; a passage in each of said 40.
8 closed containers connecting said compartments at said upper ends with each other; a conduit connecting said bottom end of one compartment of said first closed container with said bottom end of one of said compartments of said second closed container; a heat insulating casing at least partly enclosing the other compartments in said closed containers which are not connected with each other by said conduit; two heating coils each secured to the outer surface of one of said closed containers and connected with the other of said compartments therein; a liquid partially filling all said compartments in said closed-containers; a first heating device arranged so as to be adapted to heat said heating coil of said first closed container when said turnable support together with said closed containers is in that end position in which said first container is in said lower position; and a second heating device arranged so as to be adapted to heat said heating coil of the second closed container when said turnable support together with said closed containers is in that position in which said second container is in saidlower position.
