UNITED STATES GEORGE F. EBERHARD,
PATENT OFFICE.
OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
HARNESS-TERRET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 244,207, dated July 12, 1881.
Application filed May 7, 1881.
4 To all whom "it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE F. EBERHARD, a citizen of the United-States, resident of Oleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Harness-Terrets; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same,.reference being bad to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure l of the drawings is a representation of a side elevation of the whole device; and Figs. 2, 3, and 4 are detail views of various parts of the same.
This invention has relation to drop-ter-rets for harness; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the base castin one piece with lugs on its under side and with a bearing on top adapted to bend over the ring in book form, and, in connection therewith, of the base-screw and shouldered ring, as hereinafter set forth.
In the accompanying drawings, the letter A designates the terret-rin g, which is reduced at a in its lower portion, between the shoulders I), forminga bearing-bar.
B indicates the base of the terret, which is (No model.)
cast with the lugs 0011 its bottom, on opposite sides of a central hole, d, which is designed to be threaded for the reception of the end of the terret-screw D. On its upper surface the base is cast with a projection or bearing, 6, to bend down over the bar a of the ring and form a bearing therefor, connecting the ring and base, This bearing or hook e is designed to have parallel ends 9, to engage the shoulders b of the ring when the bearing-bar a, is in place.
Having described this invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s
1. A drop-terret consisting of the ringA and the base B, having the lugs c and screw D, substantially as specified.
2. The terret-base cast with the projection or hook e, to bend down over the terret-ring, substantially as specified.
3. The combination, with the ring A and its bearing-bar a, of the base B, its hook c, lugs c, and screw D, substantially as specified.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE F. EBEBHARD.
