(Cl. 12S-41) 1 Claim. l
The present invention relates to massage heads of the type presenting a, plurality of forwardly extending teats or applicator fingers for contacting the face, scalp r other parts of the body of the person being treated, which heads may be used in conjunction with massage vibrator devices.
An object of this invention is to provide a novel and improved construction for massage heads wherein all the applicator teats are independent and each is easily replaceable when worn or damaged.
Another object of this invention is to provide a novel and improved Ahead for massage vibrator devices wherein the association of components is such that by mere change .of pressure of the applicator teats against the body of the person, the massage effects accomplished are different.
A further object hereof is to provide a massage head of the character mentioned, of novel and improved construction, affording a novel mode of operation to attain varied intensities of massage effect, which is simple to manufacture, reasonably cheap in cost, easy to assemble and take apart for replacement of parts, convenient and desirable in use and eilicient in carrying out the purposes for which it is designed.
Other objects and advantages will become apparent as this disclosure proceeds.
In the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Fig. 1 is a side view of a vibrator head in accordance with this invention; said head being shown mounted on a. vibrator device of the type which is held in hand.
Fig. 2 shows the front face of said head.
Fig. 3 is a section taken at line 3-3 in Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a side view, partly in section, of the teat-carrying member included in said embodiment.
In the drawings, the preferred embodiment consists of a cup which may be cylindrical, as indicated generally by the numeral I5, the mouth of which is closed by the separable perforated member I 6, to form a casing. Through the apertures I1 in said member I6, are loosely slidably positioned the shanks I8 of the respective headed pins, applicator ngers or teats I8; said heads designated by the numeral I8", lying within the casing, and preferably within the counterbores I1 of the respective apertures I1. The interior of the casing is substantially filled with a resilient member I9 and the bottom I5 of the casing. The shank of screw 22 may extend exterior member I5', to serve as the means for mounting the head 20 onto a suitable vibrator device as 23. The teats I8 and the casing members I5 and I6, may be of plastic or other suitable material.
It is evident that this assembly is easily effected and taken apart whenever required for the replacement of parts.
During operation of the vibrator apparatus 23, the vibratory motions of the respective teats I8, are independent of each other, and different massage eifects are accomplished by altering the pressure of the teats against the face or other body parts of the subject treated, by pressing the head 20, more or less against the area worked on, thereby compressing the rubber member I9, differently, in accordance with the distance the teats I8 are pushed into the casing against the spring action of said resilient mass. Upon release of such pressure, the teats I8 will again be urged into their most outward position with respect to the casing by the tensed rubber member This invention is capable of numerous forms and various applications without departing from the essential features herein disclosed. It is therefore intended and desired that the embodiment shown herein be deemed illustrative and not restrictive and that the patent shall cover all patentable novelty herein set forth; reference being had to the following claim rather than to the specic description herein to indicate the scope of this invention.
I claim:
In a massage head of the character described, a hollow casing having a perforated wall, applicator teats slidably positioned in the respective apertures through said wall and extending exterior the casing; each of said teats having a head thereon interior the casing, to limit the movement of said teats respectively outward of the casing and resilient means comprising a rubber substance within the casing adapted to normally maintain said heads in contact with said Wall and adapted to be stressed upon movement of any mass I9, which may be of sponge rubber, which of said teats into the casing.
