The exact nature of the present invention will 'become apparent from the following description 'when considered in connection with the accomipanying drawing.

To the lower edge of the garment are attached supporters I8 that may be detachably engaged with the upper edge of a girdle when one is worn by the user of the brassire.

Extending across the lower portions of the cups formed by the sections 'l and la are elastic straps I9 arranged to pass under the breasts and yieldingly support the same in lifted position. These straps I9 are attached at their opposite ends to opposite sides `of the cups, and said straps are disposed in downwardly diverging relation, as shown in Figure 2. The arrangement is such that the desired support is effectively provided in a way lower portions thereof; an upper front portion to insure maximum comfort to the wearer. Such comfort is further insured by constructing each of the straps I9 of inelastic end sections 2U of pile fabric and an intermediate elastic` section 2|. By the use of thestraps I9, the breasts are supported in a most desirable manner, and it is not necessary for the cups to have an accurate fit as to form and size.

From the foregoing description, it is believed that the construction and advantages of the present garment, as well Ias the manner in which the same functions, will be readily understood and appreciated by those skilled in the art. The garment is simple and efliciently provides the desired characteristics. Min-or changes may be made in the form and construction of parts illustrated and described, such as fairly fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.

What I claim is:

1. A brassire comprising a horizontally elongated body composed of a front section and substantially similar end 'sections and adapted to be secured around a wearer, said front section comprising an inelastic lower under-breast band portion and an upper portion shaped to provide The sections l and I'aalso` gated body composed of a front section `and sub stantially similar end sections and adapted to be secured around a wearer, said front section com prising 'an inelastic lower` under-breast band portion and an upper portion shaped to provide breast cups, said upper portion including a main inelastic part and a central horizontally yieldable elastic insert in the lower edge of said inelastic part and attached to the upper edge of said under-breast band portion, said insert being horizontally elongated and having upper downwardly curved edges which extend in downwardly diverging relation from the inner sides of the breast cups substantially to the centers of the latter. v

A brassire comprising a horizontally elongated body composed of a front section and substantially similar end sections and adapted to be secured around a wearer, said front section comprising a lower band portion and an upper portion shaped to provide breast cups, said upper portion including a main inelastic part and a central horizontally yieldable elastic insert in the lower edge of said inelastic part, said insert being horizontally elongated and having upper downwardly curved edges which extend in downwardly diverging relation from the inner sides of the breast cups substantially to the centers of the latter, and downwardly diverging elastic breast supporting and separating straps extending -across the lower portions of the breast cups and permanently attached at their outer ends to the outer sides of the upper portion near the bottom .of said upper portion and at their inner ends to the vertical center of the upper portion near the top of said upper portion, said straps being Vfree of connection said upper portion except at their dS.
