3 Claims.
1 A I y invention relates to improvements in debris collectors for drains.
The primary object of my invention is to provide means for equipping the fixed spiders in the drain outlets of ordinary wash bowls with a removable debris collecting spider which will not obstruct or impede the drainage from the wash bowl and will prevent the accumulation of debris on the fixed spider in a manner to impede such drainage.
A further object is to provide a debris collector for the outlet fittings of washbowls and similar receptacles which can be loosely mounted in such fittings and which has a grasping handle accessible from the upper end of the fitting, and by means of which the debris collector can be freely removed, cleaned and replaced Whenever debris collects thereon.
A further object is to provide a drain pipe fitting having an ordinary permanently mounted debris collecting spider therein with an auxiliary removable spider-like member providing no additional obstruction to the fiow of water through the fitting, and upon which the debris may collect and be removed with said member instead of being allowed to collect on the fixed cross bars of said permanently mounted spider.
A still further object is to provide a drain fitting with a removable spider-like debris collecting member having radially projecting arms of arcuate cross section, corresponding in transverse diameter to those of ordinary fixed debris collecting spiders, said member having a centrally disposed upwardly projecting grasping stem extending into proximity to the upper end of the fitting, whereby said member may be readily removed and replaced.

Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of a washbowl provided with an ordinary drain pipe fitting, and showing my improved removable debris collecting attachment mounted in such fitting.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of my improved debris collector as it appears when removed.
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional View of a modified form of outlet fitting with a modification of my improved debris collector applied thereto.

The washbowl l may be assumed to be representative of any liquid container provided with an outlet ll, removable valve l2, and a permanently fixed debris collecting spider having radially extending arms l3 and I4. Mounted upon the arms l3 and I4, I have provided a removable i2 spider-like -member having arms. l3" and 14' which are adapted to engage the fixed spider arms in superposed relation. For such engagement the arms l3 and I4 are preferably made crescent shaped in cross section, with arcuate under surfaces adaptedto substantially fit the bars or arms I3 and M, respectively. The arms l3, stantially the same horizontal diameter as the arms or bars l3 and I4, whereby their presence offers no increased obstruction to the fiow of liquid through the fitting.

I claim:
1. The combination with a drain outlet fit ting provided with a stopper at its upper end. and a fixed debris collecting spider downwardly spaced from the stopper, of a removable member interposed between the stopper and said fixed spider and having spider-like arms of arcuate cross section corresponding in number and substantially in horizontal diameter to those of the fixed spider, and adapted to register with those of the fixed spider and loosely rest thereon, whereby fiow of water through the fitting will not be impeded by said removable member.
2. The combination with ,a drain outlet fitting having a stopper at its upper end and downwardly spaced interior supports extending inwardly along radial lines with spaces between them for the passage of water through the fitting, of a removable debris collecting member having radially extending arms of substantially the same cross section as said supports and adapted to rest thereon, the spaces between said arms being substantially equal in diameter to the spaces between said supports, and the arms of the removable member being provided with upturned lip flanges at their outer extremities in substantially scraping proximity to the interior 4 surfaces of the fitting and their inner ends hav-' ing a centrally disposed upwardly projecting stem adapted to serve as a grasping handle, with its upper end in close proximity to the under sur- 5 face of said stopper.
