More particularly, 'the' invention relates to 'a dispenser having' -a normally sealed 'article mag'- azine Which may be-reci procated alon'g a supporting standard to give `access to any one of a plurality of 'sle'nder articles in tlie receiving "maga- Zinc. It has been known heretofo're t'o provide 'dispens'ing devices for articles of the nature for Which this dispenser is adapted but such prior dispensers have been subject to the disaclvantage that a single article is presented 'through an opening in the top Of'the 'article holding magazine when the 'dispenser i's Operated. Such prior devices made no provision for 'access to all of a plurality of articles` within the 'dispensing magazine and yet provide a structure wherein the magazine is s ubsta-ntiall'y 'hermetically sealed against external atmosphere that Would 'deteriorate Or containina'te the contents of the 'magazine. V
In itsmost specific 'sense the *dispenser 'comprises a base and a guide rod eXtending upwardly from the base a l ong which the article holding 'magazine is reciprocated while the articles to be dispensed rest upon a stationary platform fixed to the standard so that the upper ends of the articles are presented through the upper open end of the article magazine.
The invention will be more readily understood by reference to the drawing forming a part of this application and in which drawing:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the dispenser,
Figure 2 is a, longitudinal sectional View, and;
Figure 3 is a transverse view partly in section and partly in full lines taken along the line 3-3 of Figure 2.
With specific reference to the elements illustrated in the drawing, the dispenser includes a base lii, and a guide rod [2, affiXed to the base i and eXtending upwardly therefrom. An article receiving magazine 14 Which has an Open upper end EB is mounted for reciprocating movement along the upstanding guide rod Iz. A cover member 18 which is of the same shape and somewhat larger than the Open end IB of the article receiving magazine is fixed to the upper end of the standard Iz in any suitable fashion, for eX- ample a nut 20 threaded to the upper threaded end 22 of the standard [2, as shown herein.
A spring 24 is interposed between the base la andthe lower end of the. article magazine [4 and this spring is under -suficient tension to maintainbthe magazine 14 inits elevated position Wherein the 'upper open end'thereof lies in contact with the lower ,face of the cover member 18. In its 'Specific embodiment the spring herein is. a coi'l spring positioned about the upstanding uide rod 12. Boththe guide rod 12 and its surrounding spring i are enclosed by means of telescopc tubular members. Thus, a tubular member 26 "extends upwarrl-ly from th'base li) and encloses the 'lower end ofthe red [2 as well as the lower endof the spring 24; A secondtubular member 28 isfixed to the lower end ofthe article maga- 'ain-e l l 'and depends therefrom into telescopic relation with respect to the lower tubular member 26. It ill be noted that the respective lengths of the tubular members 26 and 28 are s h h t e, a i e .1 may e c c ted pr m mb r la n t es cifi emb im t t deformablesealing member is shown as the sealing gasket 3a Which embraces the peripheral lip of the dispensing magazine i l. The pressure of the spring 24 is sufficient to deform the sealing gasket 3a to an extent that is sufficient to effect a substantially air tight contact between the upper face of the gasket 39 and the bottom face of the closure member 18.
Within the article magazine M is a staticnary platform 32 for supporting the articles within the magazine. It will be observed, therefore, that as the magazine M is moved downwardly against the tension of the spring 24 any articles supported by the fixed platform 32 will be accessible above the lip of the open end `of the dispensing magazine. In other words, the magazine I4 is moved away from the articles on the fixed supporting platform 32 so that free access is given to any one of a plurality of articles within the magazine.
It follows, therefore, that the oregoing struc ture achieves the objects of the invention by pro- Viding a dispensing magazine Wherein all of a plurality of articles within the magazine are accessible on each operation of the dispenser While at the same time the articles are protected within the magazine in an atmosphere that is sealed against deteriorating or contaminating external atmosphere. i I
While having described the invention in its presently preferred form. the practice thereof shall be limited only by the scope of the following Claims.
I claim: I
1. A dispenser for slender articles comprising,
a base, a guide rod extending upwardly from said base, an article magazine open at its upper end mounted on said guide rod for reciprocating movement therealong, a fixed article supporting platform within said magazine, a cover member fixed to the upper end of said guide rod, and a spring tensioned to normally maintain the open upper end of said magazine in contact with said cover member.

A dispenser for slender articles comprising, a base, a guide rod extending upwardly from said base, an article magazine open'at its upper -end 'mounted on said guide rod for reciprocating 'fixed to the upper end of said guide rod, a coil spring positioned about said guide rod and extending between 'said base and the lower end of said' magazine under tension to normally maintain the open upper end of said magazine in contact with said cover member.

A dispenser for slender articles comprising, a base, a guide 'rod extending upwardly from said base, an article magazine open at its upper end 'mounted' on said guide rod for reciprocating movement therealong, a fixed article supporting platform within said magazine, a cover member fixed to the upper end of said guide rod, a tubular member extendng upwardly from said base and e 5. 6. A dispenser for slender articles comprising, a base, a guide rod extending upwardly fromsaid base, an article magazine open at its upper end.
mounted on Said guide rod' for reciprocating movement therealong, a fixed article supporting platform within said magazine, a cover member fixed to the upper end of said guide rod, a, coil spring positioned about said guide rod and eX- tending from said base to the lower end of said magazine for normally maintaining the upper end of said magazine in contact with said cover member, a tubular member extending upwardly from said base'ancl enclosing the lower end of said rod and said spring, a second tubular member depending from the bottom of said magazine disposed in telescopic relation with respect to said first mentioned tubular member, and a deformable annular Sealing gasket lying between the peripheral lip of said magazine and in contact with the lower face of said cover member.
