Description
(men 0. M. ORANDALL.
TOY DOMINOS.
No. 243,855. Patented July 5, 1 881.
y fizVmzZm"; I @MM/m/Mi AlZZOr/zqy- UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES M. ORANDALL, OF MONTROSE, PENNSYLVANIA.
TOY DOMINOS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 243,855, dated July 5, 1881.
I I Application filed May 17, 1881. (No model.) v
To all whom it may concern Be it known thatLOHARLEs M. ORANDALL, of Montrose, in the county of Susquehanna and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Toy Dominos; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification.
This invention is in the nature of an improvement in toy dominos and similar games; and
The invention consists in dominos or blocks designed for similar games, provided with sections of animals, birds, 820., painted, stamped, impressed, or otherwise affixed on the faces of the blocks in the manner and for the purpose hereinafter more particularly described.
In the accompanyingsheet of drawings, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a series of my blocks; Fig. 2, a perspective view of block enlarged, and Fig. 3 a longitudinal section of block, showing protecting-button.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts in the several figures.
This invention relates more particularly to toy games, and to some extent resembles the well-known game of dominosthat is to say, it is a game wherein the matching of the parts constitutes the principal feature.
The dominos or blocks A may be of any convenient size, and may be made from any desired material.
The face of each block is divided, as in the ordinar domino, by a line, a, into two equal squares, b and c. Onto these squares are painted or otherwise placed pictured sections of animals (1, or birds 6, varying in color, size, and kind. The blocks in this Way ornamented and constructed are used precisely as are ordinary dominosthat is, the players are required to match each section of a bird or animal with its corresponding section, as in dominos.
The various grotesque figures caused by mismatching furnish much amusement to the players, and besides, when the entire series of twenty-eight blocks (the number requiredfor the game) are successfully matched they present a pleasing appearance to the eye and greatly interest children.
To prevent the surface or face of the blocks from becoming defaced-by abrasion, a button, B, is inserted in the block on the line which divides it into the squares b and c, the button to some extent projecting above the surface of the block for this purpose.
Having thus described myinvention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
Toy domino blocks consisting of a series of blocks with their faces divided into two equal spaces, ornamented with sections of birds or animals, substantially as and for the purpose described.
OH ARLES M. GRAND ALL.
