DI SPENS ING PILL BOX Filed July 27, 1945 Patented Feb. 17,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE muazftzs jfiazz lfirwe '1 My invention relates to containers and has for an object to provide a box for pills, tablets, pellets or other articles having means whereby a single one of the contents of the box may be dispensed at a time.
Another object of the invention is to provide a dispensing box having a plurality of separate compartments therein and means whereby a pill or the like may be dispensed from first one and then another of the compartments.
A further object of this invention is to provide in a container a slidable dispenser connected therewith adapted to deliver from diflerent comof Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a detail perspective view of a dispensing member, and a Figure is a section on line 5-2 of Figure 1. In the accompanying drawings as above enumerated and in the following specification, like characters of reference indicate like parts throughout. Thenumeral l0 indicates my improved pill box which consists of a block II or receptacle, which may be of wood, plastic, or any other suitable material, and which is provided with bores or compartments i2 and "I2extending entirely through the block and the upper ends I l and II, of which are flared out for easy fillin of the holes with pills I, tablets, lozenges, etc.
The lower end I! of the block is provided on each side l2 and N with parallel grooves 22 and 2! forming a trackway for the inturned flanges slider valve 24. The bottom wall 2! of this slider valve is extended at both ends and turned up 4 Claims. "(01. 312-41) and ll from which said flanges 22 and 22 proslots 20 and 21. Slidably seated upon the top.
22 and 22 of a reciprocating slide member or to form end walls 28 and 21' and then returned upon itselt to operate in slots 28 and 22 in the lower part of the end walls 20 and 2i and form alternate walls or closures 22 and 22 for the breeches 24 and 2B of the bores i2 and I2.
The closure members 22 and 22 are each spaced high enough above the wall 25 to form pockets 22 and 21 oia depth to freely admit one pill at a time to enter thereinto and each pocket "is provided with an outlet aperture 22 and 22 respectively. The wall 25 is turned .up at right angles on each side to form the side walls 42 62 2. A
ject inward and into the respective longitudinal 42 of block II is a closure 22 for the said bores l2 and It.-
To operate the device is extremely simple, it being only necessary to slide the valve 22 from one end of the block to, the other end whereupon a pill will bed ropped into the hand of the user and upon reversing the valve another pill will be dropped. For instance, when the valve is in the position shown in Figure 2 of the drawings, a pill has just been dropped through the aperture 22 and the closure member 22 has been moved from under breech 25.'permitting pill ll to drop into pocket 21, where it is held by the very slightly turned down free edge ll of member 22 until another pill is wanted. when end 21 is pushed to the right as far as it will go, thus moving aperture 28 out of the path of breech 24, moving closure 23 in and between pills 42 and 46, and bringing aperture 82 under pill ll, said .pill is permitted to drop therethrough and into the hand of the user. At the same time closure 22 moves from under pill 41 in bore l2 allowing it to drop into pocket 26 where it will be held by the slightly curved down edge 22.
It is thought that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to purview of the invention claimed may be resortedto in actual practice. if desired. l
' Having now described my invention that which I claim as new and desireto procure by Letters Patent is:
1 A dispensing device comprising a receptacle having aplurality of compartments therein, partition means for separating said compartments,
grooves in said receptacle, means slidably received in said groovesfor dispensing successively from a first of said compartments and a second of said compartments. thence from the first compartment, said dispensing means comprising a slider valve having a recess therein, walls partially covering said recess, each wall slidable under a predetermined compartment, spaced apertures in said valve, said recess communicating with successive compartments upon actuation of said valve.
device comprising a receptacle v compartments upon actuation of said valve, said partition extending within said recess for ena sins pills to retain them in position until said apertures come beneath the pills, upon actuation V of said valve.
3. The combination or claim 1, wherein said partition means is engageable with alternate opposite edges of said walls for limiting the travel of said valve.
4. In a dispensing device, a block having two parallel bores adapted to receive pills therein, a slider valve slidably connected with said block and beneath the same, said slider valve having a base, two side walls, two end walls, and top wall sections extending toward each other leaving a space therebetween, two openings in said base, one beneath each top wall section, said boresbeing separated by a partition having a portion extending into the said valve in the space between the top wall section, there being suflicient clearance between the said wall section to permit the valve to be moved at will in a portion of the space between the walls beneath a bore, said partition holding a pill which had dropped into the valve against lateral movement as the valve is actuated so that an opening in the base of said valve will register with the pill to enable it to drop therefrom.
