This invention relates to a colostomy irrigator. The object of the invention is to provide a colostomy irrigator which is of simple construction, is sanitary in use, and which will retain the irri- 3 Claims. (Cl. 128-283) tween the body of the user and the valve head 8.
In carrying out a colostomy irrigation, the device is used in the following manner. The catheter ll is inserted through the hollow valve stem gating fluid in the colon for any desired period of S and the outer end l2 is connected to a douche time before the irrigating uid and fecal matter bag containing irrigating fluid. The end I3 of are discharged from the colon. the catheter is inserted into the colosto'my open- In the accompanying drawings which illustrate ing, the ange 4 is pressed against the body of a preferred embodiment of my invention, the user and irrigating uid is allowed to iiow into Figure 1 is a vertical longitudinal section l0 the colon. During the irrigating period, the valve through the colostomy irrigator, parts being head S is in the position 'I1 shown in Figures 1 and shown in elevation; 2 or in some yother position entirely Within the Figure 2 is a plan view; sealing tube 2 which coniines the irrigating fluid Figure 3 is a longitudinal vertical section which may leak from the colostorny opening to through the valve; the sealing tube and prevents any irrigatirlg fluid Figure 4 is a plan view of the valve; and or fecal matter from discharging into the dis- Figure 5 is a front elevation of the valve. charge tube 6.
